Since our class population is mostly made up of ELL and diverse learners with sensory needs that come from low income families with a great percentage of my students have anxiety, sensory processing, and/or ADD & ADHD, there are several distractions that occur during group and independent work time. With the inclusive classroom with very diverse students, some of the other students' noises, movements, and stimulation tends to distract others while they are trying to think and work independently. Most of my students have a lot of social and emotional, as well as sensory challenges, going on in their lives right now that are distracting them from focusing in class. I want to try to make academic growth as accessible as possible to all my students by having their needs met. So, having these noise reduction headphones will help all my students "tune" out all the distractions and "tune" into their independent work. This will also help the students with self-regulation and self-control to get their minds and bodies to work as one to complete the tasks asked of them. My students are hardworking and eager to learn, grow, and succeed in life and in school, so I want them to be able to focus on their independent work and understand all the content that is taught to them in order to have a successful year!
