This project will be one component of my Makerspace. A Makerspace is an area that allows students to explore, create, collaborate and learn using a variety of materials. Students will be intrinsically motivated to learn because the topic of coding and robotics are engaging for students. I am requesting a Sphero, Ozobots, and a Code & Go Mouse STEM Activity Kit. A Sphero is a robot designed to teach coding and robotics. Students will control Sphero by using apps on a tablet. Ozobot is a robot that teaches students basic programming. Students can control Ozobots using lines and stickers on paper as code. They also use the Ozoblockly app to control the Ozobot. Code and Go Robot Mouse STEM Activity set builds hands-on coding skills. Students build a maze and then create a path for the robot mouse using coding cards. Students will have the opportunity to explore their own interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) in my Makerspace. I believe that Makerspace will allow students to be be able to invent, explore, create, design and test their hypothesis. They will gain experience in multiple domains. Students will have exposure to content that they otherwise would not. These tools will encourage students to explore engineering and science in a way that will ignite a curiosity in them causing them to ultimately pursue a career in these fields. Science, Engineering, and Technology skills are in high demand. These skills will allow students to excel in the 21st century. Thank you in advance for your interest in helping me create a promising future for my students!
