Organized Focus
Funded Jan 8, 2022Our class cannot thank you enough for your generous support. We tried using some cheap seat pouches from the dollar store. Unfortunately, they just couldn't hold our materials and ripped and fell apart. Our teacher, Ms. Boyer, is no stranger to Donors Choose, and got right to work asking for help with this project. We were so excited when the box arrived. There were enough seat pouches for our entire class! We were able to take or soft cover books that get torn up inside our desks and put them into our new heavy duty seat pouches. Now we are organized, and have space for all of our materials. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you so much for supporting my project and supplying my students with headphones. This project will be shared not only with this year's class, but with classes in the future.
Our school is a one to one device campus, and we take the high stakes tests using our devices in the spring, and formative assessments year round. We also use didgital books where students can listen to and follow along with the text on their devices. This demands focus as well as noise canceling headphones like the ones you helped supply to my students.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021I can't thank you enough for your generous support of my classroom and my students. The kids were so excited when the box came and we opened it together. This brand new projector is exactly what we needed for test prep, interactive real aloud, math chats, number strings, and directed art lessons. Our previous classroom projector was also a generous donation from donors like yourself. This new technology will also serve future generations of students at my school. Technology has become a vital part of our daily instruction. Thank you so much. We couldn't do it without you.”

Funded Aug 16, 2019My third grade students are over the moon for their own weekly subscription to Scholastic News!!! They love the interesting topics, like The Titanic and How to Get Into Guinness World Records. They also benefit from the weekly quizzes and engaging format with high interest content. Read All About It is now a reality in our classroom thanks to my generous friends, strangers, and Foundations who support education through Donors Choose. Donors continue to give generously to the students who really need it most.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Montgomery Family Foundation and 2 other donors.Read All About It!
Funded Nov 16, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations to help my students learn how to read expository texts. We use our newsletters for close reading, finding the main idea and details, while learning about science, social studies, and world news. The Scholastic News is engaging and exciting each week!!! My students really enjoy the magazine, while learning and taking the quizzes on the back of each issue. Our students need a variety of resources to help prepare them for test taking skills, while nurturing them as lifelong readers and learners. Today's readers are tomorrow's leaders.”

Organize Our Supplies, Please
Funded Nov 30, 2016My students were so excited when our Chair Pockets arrived. They really needed help with keeping journals and folders from being mashed up and or lost inside of their desks, aka The Black Hole. We find ourselves saving time and frustration, now that students can quickly grab their journals or folder from their Chair pockets.
While some students will always be challenged when it comes to staying organized, the pockets make it easy for them to store frequently used items, or special projects that they don't want to ruin by shoving it inside their desks.
Students made their own colorful name tags that fit into a clear window at the top of each chair pocket. I especially love how large, durable the pockets are. The pockets are also expandable so that students may keep multiple items in them.”

Technology, Please!
Funded Nov 10, 2015Thank you so much for your support to our classroom. With your support, my students are able to practice keyboarding, conduct research on the Internet, and enjoy educational websites that engage their interests, while helping them practice the critical thinking skills that they will need to be college and career ready.
The new Chromebooks are quick with connecting to the network on our school wifi, and they are not too bulky for students to handle on their own. My students will be taking Smarter Balanced Assessments in the Spring, testing on i Pads. The keyboarding practice on the Chromebooks is key for them to build stamina and dexterity in their hands.
Thanks to your wonderful support, my students and future students will have access to the latest technology, while learning how to use technology in meeting their educational needs. They are truly fortunate to have caring strangers like yourselves take an interest in their educational endeavors. The future looks brighter thanks to Donors Choose and the outstanding people that help make it possible for teachers to bring additional resources into their students' lives.”

Conquer the Core
Funded Dec 16, 2014There are no words to express our deep gratitude for the new Epson projector. The projector allows me to reach all thirty one students, while delivering the Common Core State Standards. It also allows students to showcase their work on the overhead, addressing the class in my teacher chair.
The projector is really great for showing engaging videos for science and social studies. Students were so happy to retire our old projector, and bring in a sleeker, newer model. They were happy to bid farewell to the old projector that would often overheat and shutoff in the middle of presentations and videos. The students especially love the Bill Nye Science videos that we now watch almost weekly in conjunction with our science curriculum. Just the other day, we were able to watch a video called Stop Bullying Now, showing scenarios where bullying takes place. Students were able to then have a discussion on what bullying is and isn't, and better understand how to be kind to others.
Another great thing about our new projector is that the students are able to review homework and test answers with the new projector, while also engaging with their teacher in face to face interaction. The projector not only delivers great instructional visuals, it saves time and trees from copies that did not need to be made for students to use during instruction.
The students were so excited when the new projector was delivered to our classroom, many of them saying, "Awesome!" Thank you, thank you, and thank you many times over. WE love our donors and appreciate all you do.”

Fly Us to the Moon
Funded Jun 20, 2013My students are so thrilled with the laptop that this project funded. They are now able to use the latest technology to access the Internet for research, type reports and essays, and play learning games like Cool Math, and Brain Pop. These children are growing up in the twenty first century and will require the technological tools required for the new Common Core State Standards testing, rolled out this year. Technology in the classroom isn't so much a wish, but now a necessity.
I am often impressed with the kindness of my donors whenever I post a project need on the website of Donors Choose. I'm also grateful that I'm able to pool resources from generous people like yourselves, some of you complete strangers, some of you lifelong friends and family, to support the needs of my students.
I'm especially blessed to love the work that I do each day, and that I have support to continue this important work of educating our young scholars. It is with humble and deep gratitude that my students also expressed thanks in the form of letters they wrote themselves to donors that wanted to hear from them. These authentic letters of gratitude made me stop to realize just how much the new laptop meant to the students. I'm especially grateful to have a forum like that of Donors Choose to extend opportunities for my students through a global community.”

Tech Me, Please
Funded Dec 14, 2012My students are over the moon with our new technology center. Through your generosity, you've all helped to implement our standards based curriculum, by giving students access to Internet web sites that include; math games, computer search engines, and reading comprehension activities. The students always look forward to "Technology Center" rotation day in our class of thirty one students. The four extra computers help by expanding our outdated and very slow set of classroom computers.
The extra computers also allow the students to implement research projects that require multiple sources for bibliographical information. I'm able to ensure safe Internet use through the built-in parental controls and the school district firewall for computer users.
My class and I want to send our deepest heartfelt thanks for your generous and thoughtful gift of support. Thanks a million.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Boyer
