Reading in the Digital World
Funded Aug 21, 2019The devices that you helped me purchase have made a great impact on my students. They are able to access programs that aid in their reading skills. One program that students in kindergarten, first, and second-grade use is Smarty Ants. This program helps students with early reading skills, such as letter recognition, letter-sound recognition, sight words, and reading sentences/stories. Another program the students use is Accelerated Reader (AR). This program is for students in grades 1 through 5. AR helps with reading comprehension. Students love to work on these devices and are excited to use them.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Walmart.Wiggling and Reading
Funded Mar 27, 2018The students love using the items from the donor's choose. The students love sitting on the cushions on a daily basis. They have their certain colors that they like to sit on. They love to lay back on the pillows and relax while they read books to gain AR points.
When the students first saw the materials, they said "What is this for?" When I explained that they could sit on the cushions while working and lay on the pillows while reading, they were excited to try it out. They have enjoyed learning and reading much more than before.
I am so glad that I ordered these materials for my students. They are more comfortable when they read and learn. The pillows make the students want to read more often and work harder.”

Funded Dec 20, 2017Thank you for your donation to my class. The students are enjoying the headphones and the carpet. The headphones help them to hear their lessons on their computer program for reading, called Smarty Ants. They are able to relax on the carpet while working on their reading programs and read books. They also can use the headphones to listen to the questions on the Accelerated Reader program. We are all loving these new additions to the class. Thank you so much for your kindness and support for my reading students.”
