  • Students Need King Series and Other Reading Materials

    Funded May 19, 2011

benefitingThank you to everyone that helped this project get funded! The paper arrived quite quickly, which was badly needed as we make multiple copies of materials for all the students in our grade level at the beginning of the year.

The First Grade collection of books arrived and my low second grade students are enjoying them....as well as my at grade level second grade students. They just like the stories! We are anxiously awaiting for the Weekly Readers and know they will be arriving soon. The use of the Weekly Readers this year will be a team effort as the entire second grade team is benefitting from the funding of this grant.

    Thank you again.”

  • Elementary Students But College Bound!

    Funded Jul 11, 2011

My students have gradually been given a new journal, a new theme book, new math and language workbooks....and then the Language Test Prep Journals arrived. I shared the journals with them and explained that these are special journals that will help to prepare them for the "big" test at the end of the year. I explained that they would learn the concepts throughout the year and then we'd start practicing these skills directly from the journal in the spring. They want to get started right away!

These journals were used last year and were so beneficial for my students. I anticipate they will have the same impact with my current students.

The Test Taking Math and Language Arts Strategies CDs have been installed and students will begin using them this week during independent computer time. I can't wait to share the Dictionary Game when students learn to use the dictionary.

Thanks again for the materials to make my students successful!”

  • New Mice Help Students View College or Career Choices Online

    Funded Jul 18, 2011

We received our CDW box on Friday and opened it yesterday. How nice to see 34 shiny, new "mice" for use in our computer lab. I told the students that I had signed up to use the lab and this year it will be easier to use the computers as we actually have mice that work!

The students in my team have also been told of the new mice and they are just as eager to begin use of the new mice. Our computer lab aide has hooked them up so the mice are ready to use.

Thank you again for helping to alleviate the mice issue. In the grand scheme of things, we truly need new and updated computers but at least now we have workable mice. Yeah!”

  • Princes and Princesses Want King Series and More Book Titles

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

We love our new books! After students were told that this project had been funded and we'd be receiving new AR books for our class library, the excitement mounted. And then it happened...our new books and check-out materials arrived. We are thrilled.

The students quickly browsed through all the new book titles, deciding what to read first. Of course, the new books need to be logged in and prepared for check-out but once that is done, the students will be borrowing them for home use and for DEAR time.

I can hardly wait for my students to fully appreciated all the new book titles.

Thank you for your donation to such a worthy project.”

  • Ink and Quill...Ink and Pen...HP Ink and Printer 2

    Funded Mar 16, 2011

We can read! We can write! And now we can print just about anything we create in the class. Having ink available is such a benefit for my students, class, and school. When my students saw the Quill box arrive, they knew what it was....our printer ink.

We are truly thankful to donors like you that believe in the power of education. Ink helps make the technology end of education possible. We will gladly be printing projects, letters, stories and photographs for our upcoming Festival of Learning.

Thank you again for your neverending support!”

  • HP Printer Ink Keeps Technology Flowing

    Funded Mar 3, 2011

I love the way we receive our products so quickly when a project is fully funded. I told my students the news about being funded. We received the HP ink and they knew the routine. Take pictures then get ready to use everything! I have a line of students ready to create and print.

One thing we will write about is our ant farm. We received an ant farm from our "These Ants Are Invited to Our Picnic" project. It is a hit! The students note the tunnels made by the ants and marvel at the detail. I can't wait for them to write about it.

Thanks to donors like you, this funded project will bring two projects together.

    We are so grateful!”

  • It All Begins With a Good Book!

    Funded Feb 2, 2011

DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) is a favorite time in our class and now that we've received our new Accelerated Reader books, students can hardly wait for DEAR time each day. The books are being borrowed and taken home. My students just can't get enough of the new books. They all want to read all the books. What a joy!

We are so grateful for your donation. I could hardly wait until the books arrived and as soon as they did, students wanted the boxes opened so they could examine the titles. What joy on their faces as they looked at the titles, read the book descriptions on the book covers, and decided what books to read first.

The books you have provided for our class will be enjoyed by students for years. As I always tell my students, read everyday! You have made this directive possible. You are the best!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hill

  • Let's Keep the Class Appealing and Interesting

    Funded Jan 10, 2011

Several long, skinny boxes arrived today and students in my class anxiously opened them to see what color fadeless bulletin board paper would soon be put onto the boards. Of course, the girls all want purple and the boys in my class would prefer black! I guess our boards will have lots of color when we us a little of all of them.

The book boxes arrived just in time as we're beginning to level our books to coincide with the AR-internet based comprehension program our school recently began using. It will be nice to have the books organized by levels.

We always appreciate everything we receive. Our class is glad to have donors like you! Kudos to you and many thanks.”

  • These Ants Are Invited To Our Picnic!

    Funded Dec 24, 2010

We can hardly wait for those little critters to invade our classroom...of course in a controlled area! We received our ant farms today and when the students opened them they wanted to know why we had them and what they were. I explained that we would soon be studying all about ants and live ants would be ordered. They're anxious to use the magnifying glasses to see each ant up close and the books are a hit! All my students have been looking at the books. Several even went one step further and borrowed a book about ants from the school library.

These ant farms and materials are going to make this unit so exciting for the students. Thank you for keeping their interest peaked!”

  • Materials Needed To Make Classroom Portable

    Funded Dec 30, 2010

What perfect timing! As the students in my class begin a math unit on money the pocket charts will allow lots of manipulation of coins and dollars. My students love to use manipulatives and the pocket charts are easily accessible, portable, and provide a place for students to work without using a table or desk. The new basic skills math resource books will also provide lots of extra practice ideas and will be well used for upcoming math units on time, multiplication, geometry, and of course money.

It seems like our class has a limited amount of bulletin board space so pocket charts allow material to be displayed and used at a student's height. These charts will be used throughout our day in all curriculum areas. Our pencil sharpeners are a welcomed addition in our class as noone likes to use a dull, flat pencil...and the sharpeners are so quiet! Our class thanks you for your support.

    Kudos to you!”
