Accessible Centers to Make Learning Fun!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for making this project possible! My students have so enjoyed using listening centers in my class. They love the talking boards with sight words, it has given students the autonomy to learn on their own without help or fear or judgment. They know if they need help reading a word, they can go find it on the talking board on their own. It has put the power of learning into their own hands! They also love the phonics listening center, it has been such a powerful tool for my learners to practice letter sounds and phonics skills on their own. It gets them excited for learning. The early math instant centers were an instant hit in my class. The centers include everything the students need so they require no-prep from the teacher and the directions are very simple so students can do it on their own. Thank you for bringing so much independent learning to my classroom and giving my students the joy of learning on their own!”

Comfortable Space to Learn
Funded Jan 25, 2018My class loves our new rug and cushions. They were so excited when I told them our project was funded and we were getting a new rug that every time there was a knock at the door, their eyes opened wide and they said, "Is it our rug?!" When it finally arrived, they watched silently as I opened the big, long box and unrolled the new rug to a loud gasp. They were so happy when they finally got to sit on the rug. It was like Christmas in the classroom!
It has been so great finally having a rug in my class. My students feel comfortable during whole group instruction. It is also used as a space during centers for students to do work somewhere other than their seat. The cushions have been very popular at the library. The kids love sitting on a cushion or even laying down and resting their head on a cushion while they read. I'm seeing students spend more time at the library.
Thank you so much for your donation!”

Funded Dec 21, 2017Thank you so much for helping my class get these materials. This project to bring math manipulatives into my class has helped my students so much in understanding the fundamentals of math. I've always heard adults say "I'm just not a math person" but as a primary teacher I've noticed that most of my students tend to like and enjoy math. So I wondered, what can I do to foster this affinity for math so that my students can like and enjoy math throughout their schooling? I knew that with a strong foundation, my students could continue to enjoy math even as it becomes more difficult. My students needed manipulatives to see real, physical representations of the math we were learning and visually relate the concepts we are learning. They needed to practice more with the concrete before they could fully understand the abstract. My students have shown a lot of growth in mathematics due to this project. My hope is that the impact of this project will stay with them throughout each grade.”

Everyday Materials for Classroom Use
Funded Apr 25, 2018I created this project due to the need for basic supplies used daily in my classroom. Thank you so much for helping me get the school supplies my students need. Your donation will have an impact on my class day to day, subject to subject. From pencils to erasers and more, my students don't have to worry about not having what they need and they can instead focus on learning.”

Swing Away Hurricane Irma
Funded Nov 16, 2017This has been a very chaotic year for students due to weather. Hurricane Irma was a scary time for many of them. School was canceled so suddenly and we were out of school longer than expected. When we came back, students were uneasy and unsure. Many of them had heavy damage in their homes and were living in hotels or with family. And they were anxious about coming back to school. We worked hard to make sure that students felt safe in school.
When I started this project, I wanted to give the kids something to engage their minds in a positive way. These baseball tees have helped give students a positive and fun outlet. We use them every single day at recess and they look forward to it every day. I have been so surprised by just how much of an effect it has had on the students. They are physically engaged and relieving stress, learning motor skills and coordination, learning social skills and taking turns and team building. They are growing in so many areas just from this one project.
I could not have imagined the amount of growth I have seen. It has been incredible to see my students so happy and excited to play in a new exciting way. I am so grateful to have been able to give them this opportunity thanks to the help of Donors Choose and your generous donation!”
