  • Copycats in Kindergarten!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

Words cannot begin to describe how thankful my students and I are for your generous donation! The addition of a copier in our classroom has improved instruction tremendously. If I see that a student needs extra practice with a skill, I am able to quickly copy an activity for them instead of having to wait until I can go to the office to make a new copy. The copy machine has also allowed me to improve parent communication. I am able to send important notices home on the bright colored paper. The color paper catches parents' eye making them more likely to read what I sent home. The color paper has also helped with art projects. This project has been such a blessing to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Johnson

  • Flexing Our Brains in Our Flexible Seats!

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

Thank you all so much for gifting my classroom with flexible seating options! When the boxes arrived they were literally almost touching the ceiling! The kids couldn't wait to see what was inside. Once I opened the boxes, one student said "It's just like Christmas!"The different seating options have worked miracles in my classroom thus far. I've noticed the noise levels go down and students have been way more focused on their work. It has also done wonders for my autistic student. I would recommend flex seating to any teacher out there.

In our classroom we have 4 tables each with a different seating option: wobble stools, wobble cushions, cushions, and stability balls. Students rotate tables on a weekly basis to ensure everyone gets a chance on each type of seat. The kids loved coming in on the beginning of the new week to see where they'd be sitting! They tell me every morning how awesome and amazing the seats are. The parents have even sent me messages about how their children can't stop raving about how great their seating options are.

I'm so grateful for the seating and I can honestly say it has made the world of a difference in our classroom. In fact I had a teacher assistant stop by today to say "I love your new seats, it's so clam in here!" Words can not express how much of a blessing this project has been.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Johnson

  • Magnetic Words!

    Funded Aug 20, 2018

Thank you all again for making this project come to life! I've seen a tremendous difference in my students' reading readiness's this year and I truly believe the magnets have been apart of that. My students use the items daily to help them learn.

We use the magnets every day during small reading groups. The students are able to build their sight words and find hidden words as well. Something about having letter to manipulate really helps them remember. I've also used the letters to help students with letter identification. My students that struggled with this have been tracing the letters with their fingers which helps them with memorizing the letters. I've also added a magnet station for students to build sentences and words during literacy stations.

I can't tell you how much your donations mean to my students and I. They love the more additions to our classroom. In fact, some students choose to go make words with magnets during free play centers! Just know you've made a huge impact on our classroom.”

  • All Hands-on Deck!

    Funded Aug 20, 2018

I want to start off by saying thanks again for your donations to our project! So far the literacy center games have been a big hit in our classroom. Everyday we go to literacy stations, where I teach students how to read and write. While I work with some students, the others need something meaningful to work on. The items that you helped purchase have done just that! You've helped provide us with skill specific activities that help to either remidiate or challenge students.

Now that we have a variety of games, I am able to split students into even smaller groups. The smaller the group, the more specific and valuable the learning becomes. I've been able to work with students in groups of twos while other students are engaged with the folder games that you all helped purchase. Right now most are working on letter identification games, but as students progress at their own rates, they'll be able to play games that are specific to a skill they need help with. And since we have so many game options, I'm able to frequently switch it up and keep engagement alive.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for all you've done. A lot of the times I've purchased supplemental materials out of my own pocket, but these items I simply could not afford. I've seen these items in use in other classrooms and I hoped that one day I'd have them in my classroom. Thanks to you all I was able to make my dream come true. You're truly a blessing and I hope that you receive an act of kindness similar to what you've given my students and I!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Johnson
