Funded Aug 1, 2024By 3rd grade, students have learned to read. What we focus on now is reading to learn. By proving students with choices, they are able to read for the love of reading. We do book reviews so they can share what they loved about the books they choose and they can create recommendations to others. When reading novels, students are asked to make predictions, identify story elements, and use inferencing skills to develop a deeper understanding of what they are reading. These skills are fun to practice when you are reading books that you love and find entertaining.
When my new 3rd graders walked into my classroom in August, they were so happy to see the awesome new books I had in my library. They were thrilled to have such amazing choices right in our classroom. I have so many students who love the series that this project allowed me to purchase for my classroom. They especially are enjoying the Who Was, I Survived, Owl Diaries, and how to draw books. Thank you again for making it possible to provide this library to my students. .”

Flexible Seating Options for My Active 3rd Graders!
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you again for contributing to my project. It means so much to myself and my students to know that there are such kindhearted people who reached out to help make this project come together.
Before this project, I had a few flexible seating options and they were in high demand. The students would ALL want to use them, but we didn't have enough options for more than seven students. Now, thanks to all of you, I have options for more than 75% of my class! They love having choices and options. They use the flexible seating for groups, partners, and independent work. Allowing my students to choose from these options creates an environment conducive to learning where students are comfortable and able to produce work with pride and effort.
When the materials began to arrive, they came in the biggest boxes! I didn't tell them about the project ahead of time, so they were so curious about the delivery. We opened the boxes together and they cheered! That first day, all of the items were requested to be used and they all raved about the different options and how fun they were. Thank you again for showing my students your generosity and that people they don't even know care about them. And, future students will also be able to enjoy these items for many years!”
