  • Manga for the Library

    Funded Feb 13, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations! You have helped up expand our manga section to include the titles students cannot wait to read. Without your donation, we would not be able to add these titles to our collection and our students are so grateful. Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Books for Dolphins!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Your donations helped us add over 25 books to our library collection that were highly requested by students. Since being added, these books have circulated over 100 times, engaging some of our more reluctant readers and providing lots of joy for all who check them out.

As a teacher, one of the best "problems" to have is a student who simply cannot put down their book. The titles we added to our library with your help are almost never put down! We cannot thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Manga Mania

    Funded Apr 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations! You helped us add over 100 titles to our library collection that were specifically requested by students.

Students actually gasped when they saw the books arrive and they have been circulating constantly since! These titles have even inspired some of our more reluctant readers to get excited again about reading. Students who had not previously found something they wanted to read are now putting books on hold and eagerly awaiting the next book in their favorite series.

This joy and excitement around reading are all thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Readying for the New Year

    Funded Nov 10, 2023

For many of my students, the library offers a relaxing and calm space in what can otherwise be a stressful and busy day. This year, our lunch times have gotten especially busy with students who want to spend their time reading, relaxing with friends, creating something in our makerspace, playing games together, or working on puzzles.

More students is the best! However, it can also mean a messier and more germ-filled library. Your donations have helped us keep the space clean and healthy so that all our students can continue to enjoy it. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Through Books

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Your contributions helped me add over 10 books (that have already been checked out many times!) that reflect my students' identities. Just recently, a student was looking at the title "Mexikid," which was purchased through your donations and said "that's me!" He went on to explain the similarities he had with the character and it was clear he felt seen by this book.

Research shows that it is the critical work of a library to ensure students feel represented by the characters they encounter and your donations helped make that possible for many of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Best Reading Party Ever

    Funded Dec 21, 2022

Thank you so much for helping us build such a strong culture of reading at our school! These supplies helped get students SO excited for our reading party and have since been used multiple times to help bring joy to celebrating our readers.

It was so fun to watch students' eyes light up as they walked into the library and saw it transformed with these materials. We made lasting memories that day as we celebrated students for their reading and I know it is something they will keep with them for a long time.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Hands-On Activities for the Library

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our library programming. Having hands-on activities ensures that during lunches and after school students have the option to engage with each other in positive and community building ways, without relying on computer games or their phones to interact.

This has been especially true during all our grade level lunches. It brings me such joy to look around the library and see students who are laughing, working together, and enjoying each other's company. Your contributions helped make this happen and we are so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

  • Dolphins Love to Read

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations! You helped us add over 50 titles to our library collection that were specifically requested by students.

These books have been circulating constantly since they arrived in the library! Students have especially loved all of the new manga and it has inspired some of our more reluctant readers to get excited again about reading. Students who had not previously found something they wanted to read are now putting books on hold and eagerly awaiting the next book in their favorite series.

This joy and excitement around reading are all thanks to you!”

  • Creating A Peaceful Library For All

    Funded Sep 4, 2022

Thank you for helping make our library space so comfortable for our students! Prior to this year, the library was not a space where students spent extended amounts of time. It was organized, but it wasn't an inviting space.

Now, the library is a space where students from all grades come to relax, read, play board games, and talk to their friends. Whether it's before school, during lunch, after school, or when they need a quick moment to reset during class, students consistently name the library as a space where they feel safe and comfortable.

Thank you for helping make this goal a reality!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Risi

Students' Reader's and Writer's notebooks are critical within our classroom. They are each student's personal space to try out new ideas, work through their thinking, and engage with their literacy work creatively. During virtual schooling, we lost a lot of this creativity as students were working in a primarily digital format. Markers, colored pencils, pens, and highlighters will help students engage with their reading and writing in a creative and hands-on way, which many have not been able to do since March, 2020. Stools will be used by my co-teacher and myself to move around the classroom and be able to conference individually and in small groups, as students won't be able to move freely about the room in the same way they have in the past. Ink cartridges will help us print anchor charts and student references so that all students can access learning materials both in school and at home! Finally, a class set of clipboards will give us the flexibility to take our writing work into the school garden outside on days when the weather allows.
