Funded Jul 25, 2012I cannot begin to express my appreciation to each of you for helping to bring our classroom project to life. You have provided a wonderful gift to my class and the impact has been significant. Our classroom has become more engaging now that we have received the books, laminator, pouches and magnets.
The students are always eager to listen to and discuss our new books. The Ant and the Big Bad Billy Goat and Billy Bully have become very instrumental in identifying and dealing with the act of bullying. These books have helped bring awareness to the epidemic of bullying and how to deal with it. It has brought a new perspective into the classroom because the children have realized it is wrong to bully their peers and are actually preventing it themselves.
The laminator and pouches have been a tremendous addition to the classroom. It has cut down on the number of supplies I use and leaves more for other teachers. It also helps keep the "little artist" from drawing their next masterpiece on material that needs to be shared throughout the classroom. I cannot forget to mention how much easier it is to keep things clean and crisp. I use the laminator on anything that needs to be passed around or kept for future use. The laminator and pouches have preserved our classroom materials, especially our sight word flashcards and number cards. Students enjoy reviewing their sight words daily during independent work time and they absolutely love to put numbers in order.
As for the magnets, thank you! I can use them all around the classroom. When all of my eight arms are being used, the magnets give me two more. I'm just kidding about the eight arms but the magnets give me more flexibility and allow for the children to have fun while learning which makes my job a whole lot easier.
There are so many words but none more fitting than, thank you. The opportunity provided to me through the Donors Choose program has provided my classroom with new resources and more importantly time to spend with the children. These new resources empower me to continue with the enjoyable task of teaching the young minds of tomorrow.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hernandez
