Math Essentials
Funded Oct 4, 2021Thank you for your generous donations. This year began with many uncertainties as the Covid-19 virus continues to spread through our communities. We also had to temporarily relocate to a new school while construction at our regular location was delayed due to supply chain issues. This means we started to school year with no materials. So, receiving these materials helped bring some sense of "normal" to our day to day lessons and activities.
Students enjoyed learning the fundamental math concepts in non-traditional ways: color by number activities, cut and paste sorting and matching activities, different games like "Matho" (a play on Bingo) and Connect 4. Students solved math problems to be able to mark their game pieces. The resource books was particularly helpful to create activities and assessments since there is no formal textbook adoption in place for this course.
My students were pleasantly surprised to be given brand new materials to use during class. They are extremely thankful for individuals and corporations like yourself to invest in their future. I rotate student work on the display board located in the hallway of our building. It's a great way to build their confidence as other students to view and appreciate their ongoing work and progress.”

A for Adaptability
Funded Dec 10, 2020Your generous donation is making my online instruction more seamless during our shift to distance learning this school year. My students are benefiting from me being able to effortlessly toggle between two monitors while also being able to hear and speak clearly with the use of the wireless headset. This provides an opportunity for me to put a face to the name and voice on the other end of the Zoom session while simultaneously having access to my many teaching tabs such as Pear Deck, Google Classroom, SchoolLoop, Delta Math, Google Drive, Infinite Campus, Illuminate, Clever and my district email.
I am creating a lot of new digital content and interactive activities to support my on-line lessons. I am able to store these lessons, videos, images, etc. on the external hard drive so it doesn't slow down my computer during my live instruction. The USB hub allows me to connect more equipment to my laptop such as a wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, printer, document camera and so on. This makes the components and materials more accessible while also ensuring an ergonomic desk set-up. The results are improved efficiency and productivity during the class period. The books will benefit my English Language Learners especially during our "Read" period.
Thank you for your contribution towards funding my project. Hundreds of students, parents and faculty members are benefiting from my use of these donated items this school year. And fortunately these items will continue to serve students year after year because I plan to bring many elements from my experience of distance learning back to the classroom when we return to in-person instruction.”
