Middle School students cheer loudly when they see themselves succeed. My middle school students live in an inner-city impoverished area and struggle with the simple things in life. They love to see themselves in pictures and even more in video. The loudest cheers in the school come when they see themselves doing work or demonstrating work they have completed. Cheers and excitement are unique in a math class and this group of African-American and Hispanic students need to cheer for themselves as much as possible.
