  • This Teacher Needs a New Laptop!

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

I wanted to thank you for donating to my classroom once again. This laptop has been supporting me as I continue to serve my students remotely again this year. My previous laptop could not handle all that I was asking of it during pandemic teaching. This technology is up for the task.

My students are benefitting tremendously from having access to this quicker, newer laptop that enhances my teaching.

I continue to be grateful of the generosity of others who take the time to assist with my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baird

  • Study.com? Yes Please!

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

Thank you so much for continuously investing in my classroom. With your support I am able to provide my students with another way to review our content. The helpful videos and supplemental materials mesh well with remote learning, and will support them when we do return to the classroom in the future.

The most exciting component of Study.com are the review videos. They are colorful, playful, and engaging in a way that I have constantly tried to seek out on youtube and teachertube.

By having various entry points for review this has helped my most vulnerable students in mastery of concepts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baird

  • Live Stream Tools for Remote Learning

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity in funding this enormous project. Although I am remote this year on a medical accommodation, and NYC schools are currently remote, I know that next year this project will bring my students so much joy in the classroom. After this pivot to digital learning, I will be able to use these iPads to continue providing my students with access to 21st century learning skills. Having this technology will bring history alive for them.

Prior to the pandemic, technology was sparsely spread out in my school. Now that budgets have been cut (with my dream job being one of the victims unfortunately cut) having access to this technology in my own classroom next year will prove indispensable.

Students are acclimating quite well to being digital learners. Next year I suspect that they will be using our class iPads with such ease!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baird

  • Interactive Digital Resources

    Funded Aug 15, 2020

My students and I have been LOVING these new resources! Having access to these materials has provided my students to new ways to express our mastery of content in my SS classroom. Specifically, becoming CSI investigators reviewing the lost colony of Roanoke, or CSI investigators of the Salem Witch Trials. These assignments expose us to various theories and we investigate them for authenticity and historical accuracy.

My students love the colorful materials that I have purchased, and the interactive components I have found within these digital resources.

Next steps for my 7th grade students on a current classroom project is to summarize 3 of the 4 theories surrounding the Salem Witch Trials that they have investigated and explain which theory makes the most sense in 2-3 paragraphs. Thank you for supporting my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baird

This new school year will be a challenging one for everyone. A long time high school social studies teacher, I found myself excessed from my school community and having to start from scratch, as I am teaching middle school social studies for the first time in my career. As a teacher with a medical accommodation, I will be teaching remotely to students who are learning remotely and/or in the school building. It is imperative that I find unique ways to reach them all. I always strive to have a variety of interactive centers for each unit. This year many of those stations will not be able to be used due to the children not being able to move around, nor share manipulatives/texts/papers. To that end, I must do everything within my power to create digital experiences to enable my students to still have the opportunity to learn, see themselves in history and master concepts through interactive centers.
