Support the Drumline - Got Our Backs? Part 2
Funded Sep 3, 2017Thank you so much for continuing to support 'part 2' of our ongoing project.
As you can see, our drumline was very excited to receive your support during our marching band season.
The Mighty Gondolier Marching Band has a great season, especially transitioning to becoming a more competitive band. In addition to LAUSD Championships, we competed in an additional competition, where we did very well, including winning Best Percussion in our division.
We hope that you continue following us and supporting the group as we still have 'part 3' of this multi-project.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Lee

Funded Dec 3, 2017We did it! We completed 'part 3' of this project. We now have harnesses for all of our drummers in the drumline.
Our final harness came during Concert Band season, but you can see that our students were still excited. While we received it during our 'off-season', the Mighty Gondolier Marching Band is still active in the Spring Semester. We were again invited to participate in the Venice Cinco de Mayo parade, this year being the third year. This summer we will once again be participating in the Westchester 4th of July Parade, and just recently were invited to Willmington Labor Day Parade.
It's amazing how one piece of equipment can make a difference. These 'dolphin-tails' transfer and spread the weight of the heavy equipment from just the shoulders to the back and center of gravity.
What a wonderful feeling it is to go into next marching season prepared and ready to support our students both physically and musically.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Lee

Funded Mar 29, 2017Over the course of the past few months, the snare harnesses have been used consistently by our drummers. While, the marching season is in the fall, we were busy with various events and parades. We were even invited to perform at a memorial service on Venice Beach!
Our snare drummers who auditioned for All City Marching Band, used to come back from the workshop and rave about the harnesses with the "dolphin-tail" and how comfortable they were. Now they are able to have the comfort and support at every rehearsal. I can attest to how important that feature is after having to step in for a player during our 4th of July Parade.
Now that the marching season has begun, these harnesses are a physical part of each drummer. The Mighty Gondolier Marching Band has grown immensely this year, with almost 40 members. This project is just the first of a part of a multi-step effort to support our drumline. Please keep a look out for Parts 2 and 3 (and even possibly beyond - we are planning to start Winter Drumline next semester!)
Thank you again for you literal support!”

Funded Sep 19, 2016As the Fall Semester quickly comes to an end, the success of the musics students would not be possible without your help. The wide-eyed excitement from the massive boxes of music stands still resonates within the music classes.
The biggest impact can be seen in our Beginning Instruments class where both the method books and stands are used daily. These students came in not knowing how to play instruments, let alone read music. They are now playing holiday music that have different parts, and sometimes it's hard to stop having them play!
I also want to personally thank you because the music stands are a blessing not only to the students, but to me as well - I no longer have to roll a cart of stands between classrooms on opposite sides of campus! Having music stands in all of our music classrooms optimizes rehearsal time and students in the Percussion Class, Steel Drum Ensemble, Advanced Band, and Guitar Class, thank you as well.
Please keep an eye out for campaigns to continue help grow and promote our program here at Venice High School.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Lee
