  • Another Monitor Will Be a Game Changer!

    Funded Mar 18, 2021

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous gift of a new computer screen for my classroom. Due to the increased use of technology in schools, this project being funded has aided in the success of my students in the classroom in more ways than one.

When we returned to a hybrid schedule last spring, this screen was a game changer! I was able to have my students on Zoom on one screen, my class materials on another and chat open as well so I could answer student questions with ease. This desktop set up has enabled me to complete tasks quickly and efficiently while supporting students in class and online.

On behalf of myself and my students, please accept our gratitude for your generous donation and for supporting technology use in the classroom. We appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Henry

  • Reliable Teacher Tech is a Must!

    Funded May 4, 2021

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous gift of a new laptop for my classroom. This technology has provided me with valuable resources in order to bring new and exciting programs and applications not supported on my previous device to my students. Due to the increased use of technology in schools, this project being funded has aided in the success of my students in the classroom in many ways.

The old device that was in use previously did not have the capacity to run complicated programs and applications like Flip Grid and Nearpod. These programs are essential in determining the proficiency levels of my students in real time and provide instant data to enable me to develop lessons using individualized instructional strategies best suited for these students. The sheer fact that the speed of this device enables me complete tasks quickly and efficiently is a game changer in and of itself.

On behalf of myself and my students, please accept our gratitude for your generous donation and for supporting technology use in the classroom. We appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Henry

  • Exploring Quality Fiction Through Literature Circles

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in funding the novels for our literature circles this school year. Students were so excited when they entered the classroom for their Book Tasting where they sampled each one of the novels available to read for their groups like they were sitting in a restaurant. It was just the activity to get them hooked on one of the stories and it really was hard for some to pick just one!

On a bi-weekly basis, students were required to meet with their book clubs and discuss the novel. They were also asked to keep a double entry journal of quotes or situations that catch their attention, but I really just wanted students to read and discuss the book without a lot of assignments attached. Students are more opt to enjoy reading in this format.

This project truly was a success and it couldn't have happened without the kind donations of parents, family and friends. We appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Henry

  • Ready, Set, Collaborate!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

First and foremost, thank you for your generous donation of classroom tables in changing the collaborative culture of my classroom. The tables have been a critical backdrop in allowing students to work closely with each other in small groups that had proven difficult with desks. My students are able to hold discussions and discuss essential questions with greater ease due to the logistics of remaining in groups without spending the arduous time creating such groups on a daily basis. This is in addition to physically moving the desks!

Once the students saw the tables in the classroom, they were overjoyed and eager to use them. Many had never been in a classroom that had tables as their work space. One particular project that comes to mind was during our W.O.W week, students participated in an engineering STEM activity where they had to make a pyramid out of cups only using string. Watching my students collaborate, discuss and put a plan into action was amazing to watch.

By having tables in my classroom, just in a few short weeks, we have built a classroom culture that instills teamwork, productiveness, and respect for one's ideas. This has been possible due to the donations of people like you! On behalf of my students, thank you again for your dedication to the cause in creating collaborative life time learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Henry

  • A Journey Into Judaism: Number the Stars

    Funded Dec 18, 2010

I would like to thank you for your generous gift on behalf of my sixth grade students. The impact of your gift has been two fold! Not only have my students been incredibly curious to explore the themes contained in the novel, they have gained valuable insight into the lives of a Jewish family during the second World War.

My student's comprehension of the novel has been enhanced by the complex characterization, elements of the setting, and internal conflict the Johansen's experience in trying to save the Rosen's from the Germans. My students have enjoyed predicting the outcome of the many experiences of the characters and reflecting through journaling the themes contained within Number the Stars.

It is through your generosity that my students were able to have these experiences. Again, I thank you for your dedication to public education”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Henry
