Every year I challenge my students to create Innovation Projects. This year, one of my students has chosen to teach his peers in grades 4-6 how to make bristlebots in order to host a tournament featuring the little bots. Under my guidance, he has carefully planned four different challenges: drag race, maze run, space clearing, and demolition derby. He has done all of the leg work to get us to this point. Now we just need to gather the supplies to make this venture become reality. Students will have to think critically about how to modify their bot to make it achieve the necessary movements in order to successfully complete their challenges. We need cell phone vibration motors, batteries, toothbrushes, and double-sided foam tape. By donating to this project, you will be supplying the students in our upper elementary the basic necessities to create the bristlebot needed for this unique STEM project. I am excited about this project, not only because of all the hard work my student has put in, but because it entails a student challenging his fellow students to problem solve and be creative. Students will have to think critically about how to modify their bot to make it achieve the necessary movements in order to successfully complete their challenges. It would be great if a fifth grade student could make this a reality for our school.
