  • Creating Calm: Empowering Students' Well-Being Through Therapeutic Resources

    Funded Apr 21, 2024

Your generosity and support means the world to me! Thanks to your contributions, students now have access to the therapeutic resources they need to thrive emotionally and academically. Your kindness has created a positive impact that will resonate in our classrooms for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaw

  • Breaking News: Read a Book!

    Funded Feb 26, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for the generous donations to my project. "Breaking News: Read a Book," was impactful to say the least. The amount of books that were brought in helped my kids become even more obsessed with reading. They were introduced to new people of different backgrounds, new places to travel--imaginary and real--and lessons they can learn. I wanted a place for students past, present, and future, to enjoy and escape, and our class library is just that with the help of your generosity. Reading is the prize, and I truly cannot thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaw

  • Game, Set, Learn!

    Funded May 1, 2019

Items from our Donor's Choose project is impactful to say the least! Thank you isn't enough. The use of the folders and composition books were exactly what we needed for data folders and both ELA and Math interactive notebooks. We are all obsessed with the white boards!!! They have turned small groups lessons—as well as whole group lessons—into gameshows. We turned our spelling list into a game-show by working with syllabication of each word. Students used the boards to display in small teams the word, the amount of syllables, and how many vowels were in each word. It was awesome! My students continue to stay highly engaged, even only a few weeks into our new school year.

My next steps are to increase my student engagement with a new science project! Currently, we are working on environments. More specifically, ecosystems and food webs. The goal of the project is to create an essential question and have students work on a project for a week. At the end of the week, students will present their own-chosen food web projects and how their specific animal effects the ecosystem. I cannot wait to see what they create! Thank you all so much for your donations! My class—and of couse myself—are eternally grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaw

This classroom project was brought to life by Someone Who Loves Clark County Teachers and 10 other donors.
These fun and interactive materials will give my students a positive creative outlet while learning current and/or new skills. The use of the game buzzers in the classroom will provide all of my students an amazing opportunity to actively participate in class in valuable discussion/discourse. They can be easily integrated into the classroom and used to spur conversation in every subject. The same can be said for the use of the wipe-and-answer white boards! The whiteboards will be used almost daily in the classroom and used for vocabulary, language and phonics, all the way to math, social studies, and science. Students being able to have their own board to use not only gives each one a level of independence and confidence in their own learning, but it will give me the chance to observe/evaluate what each student is doing. The foam dice, notebooks, and the sticky chart paper will continue to be in used by me and my students in order to provide another visual tool in their learning. By donating to this project, you will not only help improve and increase student focus, but you will ultimately help in increasing their academic achievement.
