Modeling metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary rocks are a great way to get 6th grade science students involved in their learning. Once the students understand how the rocks are formed they need real world examples to identify in the classroom which is why we are asking for these wonderful kits for our approximately 280 students. After the classroom inquiry and real life activities, we can then take the students out to classify the rocks we have on campus! Living in El Paso allows for a lot of rock identification/classification opportunities since we have the wonderful Franklin Mountains and most of our front yards have xeriscaped landscaping.
