• Creating a MakerSpace One Center at a Time

  Funded Mar 7, 2025

  Thank you so much for helping my students and I have our very first space for gathering informally. The students were filled with excitement upon receiving the box with the table and benches. They eagerly volunteered to help me build it immediately, and by the end of the school day, there was a new puzzle ready to be solved on the table top.

  The students naturally gravitate to the table and benches, assisting each other in solving whatever the most recent puzzle I have purchased for them. They talk, laugh, and collaborate with students they may not have otherwise worked with. As an added bonus, it has allowed recently-immigrated children who are learning English to have a safe space and purposeful activity to explore with language; the puzzles and crafts in this area serve as a catalyst for taking risks with language and conversation.

  A day has not passed since we received the furniture in March that students have not gathered in this new "maker" area to read, construct, create, and collaborate.

• Lights, Camera, Broadcast!: Creating an Efficient & Inspiring Production Studio

  Thank you so much for helping our class update our tv production studio. Our students were so excited to find the boxes of donated materials when they came in. They immediately put everything in its new place in our studio. Our new rug gives students an informal meeting space where they can share creative ideas for broadcasting podcasts, morning announcements, and interviews. The ON-AIR light up sign signals to others not to come inside while our live broadcasts are taking place each morning. The inspirational quotes and signage remind each student of their potential within themselves.

  Your donations have been, not only a great source of happiness for the students, but of inspiration and efficiency during our class and WVOV (Welcoming Voice of Vineland) planning, content-creation, and broadcasts.

• Let's Create a Bookstore Vibe in Our Library Media Center

  Funded May 1, 2024

  Your donations have definitely helped create a book store vibe in our library media center. Upon receiving your donations, I immediately assembled the tables and stools, as well as hung our new led sign. Students came in and showed incredible excitement at our new spaces. Every single day since, our middle school students come in and collaborate on puzzles and games, and even stay in at lunch to have a quiet place to read at our new cafe tables and stools. For others, these new spaces have created opportunities for discussing books, recommending series to others, and simply spending a little time with students with whom they never would have otherwise spent time with.

  The beautiful sign just brings brightness and cheer to our library media center. I am so excited for the potential this space continues to have this new school year, as well.

• Explore More: National Parks

  Since the moment I received these beautiful books, I knew I wouldn't be able to keep them on our library media center shelves for long! Our school's theme this year is Explore More! Each of the donated books allows the reader to travel throughout our nation to its national parks at each turn of a page!

  Our third grade students were the first to enjoy and learn from each title as part of a collaborative research lesson between their teacher and me. They were so excited, not only to be the first students to read the books, but to learn new information for national park brochures they made in their social studies class.

• The Reading - Writing Connection

  Funded Dec 1, 2021

  Thanks to you, my students have taken engaging in inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration to a meaningful, authentic level. Your materials arrived just in time as we were publishing our anthology of poems in both of my classes. During Writers' Workshop, students wrote collaborative poems, as well as individual ones inspired by LOVE THAT DOG! by Sharon Creech. Your donation not only allowed us to bind our poems into a beautiful book for each student, but plan a poetry celebration. The students planned and enjoyed a picnic lunch where they shared their published pieces with each other. We will also be reading Mr. Limoncello's Library in the next few weeks! Thank you for allowing my students the opportunity to analyze author's craft, employ these techniques in their own writing, and publish their masterpieces.”

• Bringing History to Life Through Laptops 4 Learning

  Thank you so much for making sure that each of my students has access to the educational applications, websites, and opportunities we engage in every day in our classroom. Without your generosity, we would not have started our school year off with the technology needed to make learning efficient and fun! The students were not able to efficiently work on our outdated desk tops.

  Thanks to your generosity, students have been able to read, "travel" to different places, write, communicate, and differentiate their learning. Since the first day we unpacked our new laptops, students took over setting them up and putting them to immediate use. What's most exciting to the students is that our Writers' Workshop is now what I promised them it would be - a time for every student to be able to create, write, and publish original work efficiently, with access to all of the resources they need. Moreover, center time is now more feasible, as more students have access to educational technology, learning games, and skills practice at one time.

• Bringing History & Literacy to Life Through Laptops

  Thank you so much for starting our school year off with the technology needed to expand our learning, make it meaningful, and make it lots of fun! Our old "dinosaur" computers were putting up tremendous resistance to taking us to all of the educational websites we were trying to access. The students were not able to efficiently work on them, nor publish their writing during Writers' Workshop.

• Writer's Block- Help Us Create an Inviting Writer's Workshop Space

  Funded Aug 25, 2019

  Thank you so much for making our grant, Writer's Block, a reality. Upon receiving the grant materials, I went ahead and set up the couch area, bins with clipboards, our colored-paper drawer, and even extended this flexible seating area after school so that the students would be surprised the next morning. Immediately, the students gravitated to all of our donations with excitement.

  Whenever students are engaged in partner or independent writing, they immediately wander off into our new couch area. You would not imagine how much motivation even publishing on colored paper has been for my students.

  A million thank-yous from all of us! You've motivated us as authors and helped us create an inviting environment in our classroom.

• STEM Intervention With Technology

  Thank you so much for funding this project! We received the laptops today.... just as yet another one of our classroom computers stopped working. These 2 new laptops will really help ensure that students access all the online resources that are available to them, especially those that facilitate writing, mathematics, and STEAM. They will be a key part of both our gifted program, as well as our intervention classes. We can't wait to get working on them tomorrow! ”
