  • Library Time

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so very much for helping to increase the number of nonfiction book in our classroom library. The books have been arriving and students are so excited to read some of the new titles. They really enjoy reading and it helps when the classroom library has great, new titles for students to choose. In third grade, students are Reading to Learn and these books are helping us do that.

One very popular series is the "I Survived" series that lets students learn about people who have survived real, life events. You have helped bring these books to our classroom and we appreciate it. The gesture was so kind of you and we know you could have given to many other classrooms. Thank you for choosing our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salcedo

  • Seats for All

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

WOW! The students were so excited to receive the rest of the supplies today. Unfortunately, the cushions were of low quality, so Donor's Choose allowed us to exchange them for 3 bean bags chairs! The students helped carry them to the classroom (the boxes were huge, but not heavy)!

Afterwards, we set up a Reading Nook with the new carpet, swivel chairs and beanbags! I hope you enjoy the pictures. The students are very eager to read books in their new Reading Nook! We can't wait to begin decorating the walls!

Again, thank you so much for your generosity. We appreciate everything you've given us!”

  • Headphones & Fraction Practice

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. The headphones finally arrived and now all of my students have their own headphones. They also played with some of the fraction games and enjoyed them. They are so fortunate that there are people like you who help make learning fun. Thank you for helping me create this fun environment for my students. They all were very excited when the materials came in. The hands on fractions games are exactly what we needed to help students visualize comparing fractions. We are grateful to you!”

  • Always Room for More Books

    Funded Jan 25, 2023

Oh my gosh, you are all so amazing! I wish you could see the smiles on my students faces when they saw the books arrive! (I will post pictures soon). Students (and parents, too) are commenting about how they love reading now and also read more than they did in second grade. I really feel that it is partly because they helped pick out the books for the library. They are discovering new characters and learning about things they never knew before. These books take them on adventures they would have never imagined. I appreciate each of you for impacting my students in a positive way. Again, thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salcedo

  • Wanted: More Nonfiction

    Funded Nov 9, 2022

My students were so excited to receive new biographies and other non fiction books for our library. Immediately, all of the books were checked out from my classroom library! Thank you so much for helping me improve read comprehension bring more informational books to my class.

This project will help students read more nonfiction books and learn more about people, places and other things in the world. It has opened their eyes to a different genre of books. Thank you so much for being a part of it!”

  • The Butterfly Garden

    Funded Oct 28, 2022

My students have been working learning about butterflies and writing letters to businesses for donations and help. They are so excited to help save butterflies and give them a home. Soon, we will begin planting seeds and put them into the garden once they grow big enough.

My students have learned so much through your donation. They are not only learning about butterflies, but they are learning about planting, taking care of the earth, writing, collaboration...to name just a few.

They are so excited to begin planting and I know they will feel even prouder once the garden is planted. They understand they may hot see butterflies right away, but that is ok. We really appreciate your donation toward this project. Thank you, again!”

  • Art & Math Makes Sense!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you so much! This is the best beginning to a new school year! All my students will have a set of headphones for the entire year. I plan to give them the headphones at the end of the year, so they can be used for the next grade, too. The students were so excited and appreciative.

Your generosity has made a huge difference because now we can begin assessments on the computers right away. Normally, we have to wait for students to bring earbuds, headphones, etc. I always have extras but never enough.

Also, the math/art supplies and books will help teach math in a fun way. These children love art. Thank you for helping me teach math in such a creative way. I am so appreciative be able to do this for my students. Thank you, again.”

  • Help Needed to Update Classroom Library

    Funded Apr 3, 2022

I can't tell you how excited my students are to get all these new books! They can't wait to begin reading them. They are waiting for me to check them all in. They all cheered when I told them our project was funded and they cheered louder when many of the books arrived the next day.

We really appreciate your generosity. You cannot see their smiles behind their masks, but they are all so excited! If it would for you, we wouldn't have so many new and exciting books to read. There is something for everyone. Thank you, again!”

    With gratitude,

  • Book Madness

    Funded Mar 14, 2022

My third graders became so excited when most of our new books arrived. Previously, we borrowed the books from another teacher and were unable to reread them again and again. Now, students can reread them whenever they like. I am happy I can also read these wonderful books to my students whenever I want, as well. They each have a beautiful message about acceptance, being yourself, and many other important values that children need to learn. I really can't tell you how much your help has meant to me and my students. Knowing that you realize the importance of great literature in the classroom means a lot to us and we appreciate all you have done to help us.”

  • Distant Learning Can Be Done!

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

You made 24 students day! Those that came with their families to pick up supplies for the new school year were so excited! They especially loved having their very own whiteboard with eraser and markers. I can't wait to share a picture of two children jumping up and down with excitement!

Your donation has made a difference in these student's lives. Teaching virtually isn't the best way of teaching, but there are effective ways to teach children this way. Providing them with whiteboard and supplies is one way to teach.

The standing desk also was delivered a few days ago. It is perfect for standing while giving instructions. The students can see me better and I feel I have more of a grasp on the class. Thank you, again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salcedo

Mrs. Salcedo teaches twenty-three amazing 3rd graders, each, in a Northern California school. They are all excited to be back in the classroom again. The student population consists mostly of students from many different backgrounds. We have several students who speak English as a second language. Students range from advanced to far below basic, but all of them want to learn! I feel that one of the best ways for students to learn is hands on. It is also very rewarding when students are having fun and aren't realizing that they are actually learning. Having students create videos about what they are learning is a great way for students to become engaged in their learning. Thank you for helping me better engage my students.
