  • Capturing Creativity Through Art with Digital Technology

    Funded Oct 12, 2019

The TV and Chrome Cast was a big hit with all my students. They can now see presentations and videos on the screen without having to look through speckles and dark spots from the projector. This has made teaching new ideas and showing project assignments better for all. I can now see my students fully engaged and concentrate the project at hand to creating art with more comprehension by being able to "see" what they are asked to accomplish. We appreciate all that you have done to make this dream of being able to have better technology come true for us."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dove

  • For the Love of Ceramics

    Funded Dec 17, 2018

My students are loving the air-dry clay and made pinch pots, flowers, animals and many other items. They were so happy and excited to get the supplies to learn how to create and work with their hands to create something of their own. It opened up their imagination and let them explore a whole new art experience. When they first heard about the project they were excited but when they actually saw the supplies and realized they were actually going to be able to create something out of this clay they were ecstatic and ready to start right then. There is enough air-dry clay to complete another project for my 6th, 7th and 8th graders and they can not wait to try a new style of ceramics. My students and I are all so grateful for this opportunity to be able to have this experience with clay and thank all of our donors so very much for the donation to our art journey.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dove

This classroom project was brought to life by Someone Who Cares and 5 other donors.
Due to a funding shortage, we have had to sacrifice ceramics for just basic art supplies for drawing, painting and mixed media. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them the opportunity to experience ceramics at some level. Fired ceramics and being able to throw on a wheel is way beyond our available funds so the air-dry clay will let them use their imaginations to create pinch pots, bowls, figurines and many more items with their bare hands. The super dough can be used before actual clay crafting, as a testing medium, so the students can built their project before using the actual clay. The super dough can be used repeatedly since it never dries. The clay cutters and slicers will enable them to cut off portions small enough to work with, the tool sets will enable the students to carve designs into their creations, and the mod podge is used as a sealer glue, a quick finish, a textured finish, or a build-up finish to complete their project and protect it either in a matte finish or glossy finish. Being able to create art from clay can positively affect my students work and give them the motivation to persevere in spite of obstacles. One day we might be able to get a kiln and increase the options we have to help us grow even more!
