  • First Year in 5th Grade!

    Funded Aug 10, 2023

Thank you for all the amazing supplies for our 5th grade class. We have been using the printer ink to present our writing and ideas. Students each wrote paragraphs to share with the class on our Red Ribbon Door decorating contest. Students were able to print their work with color pictures to show their ideas. They voted and picked their favorite.

Students have been using the marker and colored pencils for sharing the information they learned about possible future careers. Each student researched two careers and created a poster with information and a picture. Allowing students to present and share their work and ideas with color is a gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Anderson

  • We Have Worms!

    Funded Apr 15, 2014

Thank you so much for your support and funding for our class composting! Teaching about recycling and personal environmental responsibility is one of my passions. Living in Alaska, it is difficult to teach about composting. Compost piles do not do well in the winter! Having the vermicomposting in the classroom year long will allow students the opportunity to see the entire process from the set up, through processing, and to harvesting. The class was so excited to walk in and see this huge box waiting for them. They were able to open it and help set it up. We watched the instructional video and worked to transfer the worms from their bins to the Worm Factory. That was day one!

Since then, students have started taking an interest in the food and materials in the compost. Students have been willing to spend recess time shredding paper and daily ask to check and see if the worms are moving up to the second tray. Already students are asking if they can have worms to take home to vermicompost over the summer. I love that students that have had no interest in recycling, now understand that we will use that paper for the worm bedding are now reminding me to recycle!

In less than a week, we have created a permanent home for the worms and have active processing and feeding trays. We even found eggs during the transfer. Having an actual working ecosystem in the classroom to refer to, instead of a video, has allowed student to understand the process of decomposition, recycling, and the importance of each persons actions on our environment. I am excited to see how many parents agree to allow students to try composting at home over the summer. Thank you for this opportunity!”

  • Show Me Your Answer

    Funded Apr 11, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The students were so excited to use the new white boards. The first time they used them to practice their spelling words every student had better handwriting, all of them were paying attention and so eager to use them. Many of my students had never used a white board without chips, dents or permanent marks on them. It was a great treat to see the pride they took in their work and how carefully the materials were passed out, used, and put away.

I am blown away with the support and generosity of strangers to support our school, students, and future leaders and donators”

  • Chair Pockets for First and Second Grade Combo Class

    Funded Dec 25, 2011

Thank you! Words can not express what a difference your donation has made to our class. The ability for each student to have their own materials at their seats has saved us so much time waiting for the books to be passed out and frustration when the books were lost. The students are able to transition from one activity to the other quickly and quietly. Today during math we were able to complete a lesson with all our materials in the time allowed. It was amazing!

Without your generosity this would not have been possible. Thank you for supporting schools and teachers everywhere.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Anderson

  • Space Saving Workshop Easel

    Funded Jul 20, 2011

Thank you for your generous gift to our classroom and future leaders. We have had our easel for a week now and love it. We are using the nine storage bins for our reading workshop, clipboards, anthologies, and our whiteboards. The class is very organized and student friendly now.

The whiteboard and charts have been a life saver for my first and second grade combination class this year. We use them both during whole group reading, small group intervention, and especially during grade level math lessons. This is a center in its self and helps us daily!

    Thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Anderson
