Hidden NYC: An Environmental (in)Justice Tour
Funded Dec 1, 2020I'd like to thank you for your support of this project. With the iPad I recieved thanks to you, I'm becoming proficient in bringing outdoor phenomena closer to my students. I have already made and shared videos highlighting environmental issues and have also shared fun videos like one about birdwatching.
I'm hoping to inspire a deeper admiration for nature by bringing it a little bit closer. My students enjoyed seeing and hearing me on videos, they especially liked when I messed up and found that very funny.
My favorite moment that came from this project was a student that didn't really speak in class opened up and was very excited to go birdwatching and drawing. I cant wait to make more videos this summer and infuse them into my class.”

Funded Mar 20, 2015I would like to thank you for your gifts which allowed me to bring reading to my health class. My students really enjoyed reading "The 7 habits of Highly Effective Teens".
I also enjoying working on the lesson and seeing it spring to life. To accompany the reading I developed a worksheet so they could apply the principles mentioned in the book to themselves. It was fun watching them reflect, especially since they were in the midst of preparing for college. I really hope they will remember to set goals for themselves in the future and always keep an eye on the big picture, among other principles Author Steven Covey mentions.
Thank you, for your generous gift and for supporting literacy in our classrooms! From my 12th graders and myself Thank you!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jimenez
Bring Books to 'LIFE' Sciences
Funded Jun 30, 2014Thank you so much for your support in funding this project! My students are very excited to read the Violinist's Thumb on a weekly basis. By supporting this project you have increased science literacy in my classroom and have allowed my students to see how our genetic code impacts the world around them. I feel that they will be more prepared for college and whatever career they choose, while at the same time becoming more excited about science.
In addition, I thank you for supporting the implementation of common core into our public school classrooms. The books you have helped provide, will allow my students to synthesize information from the text and use it in our in classroom discussions.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jimenez
