  • Ready for Reading Success

    Funded Sep 21, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous sponsorship of reading resources for our first-grade classroom. Your support means the world to us! Because of your kindness, my students now have access to books and materials that will spark their imagination, boost their confidence, and foster a lifelong love of reading.

Your contribution is helping to shape young minds, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.

Thank you again for your generosity and for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cutile

  • Cozy and Comfortable Flexible Seating

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

My students love their portable seat spots. They can be moved around the classroom so easily. Some students use them for independent work. Other times we use them for small groups. A few students like to use them as a booster on their chair as they work at their desk. However they are used the students are so thankful to have comfortable options to sit around the room. They help to open up the classroom and allow for the students to choose a place for themselves in order for differentiated learning to take place all around the room.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cutile

Your thoughtfulness and kindness are acknowledged. It's wonderful to know that there are amazing and supportive people. It really does take a village.”

I cannot thank you enough for supporting this project. Your generosity is inspiring. This Free Little Library will be placed and maintained in the community for the students and their families. I am so excited to get books into the community to inspire readers of all ages. Award winning author Anna Quindlen once said "Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home."”

  • Writing Resources for Budding Authors

    Funded Jul 15, 2021

Thank you! I am so excited to use these resources with my students. Some students haven’t been writing at all this year due to online learning. I know that the writing journals will give the students an opportunity to express themselves, build writing skills and be inspired as writers.”

  • Math is Essential!

    Funded Sep 15, 2020

My students need to understand place value in order to be able to add and subtract. The students love using these materials to make sense of the mathematical concepts that we are learning.

Effective mathematics instruction moves students through stages from concrete to abstract. In the first stage, we use concrete objects such as blocks. In the second stage, we move to math manipulatives such as counters and base 10 blocks. The base ten blocks from this project gave my students opportunities to compose and decompose numbers and to gain a deeper understanding of place value allowing them to solidify their learning as they move to the pictorial stage in which the can draw quick pictures. This process of will lead to the last stage, the abstract stage in which they can do mental math.

My students will continue to use these hands-on materials to represent and understand numbers. These resources will help lay the foundation for their understanding of math as the move through the stages of learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cutile

  • Great Books Encourage Empathy, Perspective and Discussion

    Funded Aug 27, 2020

My students love reading and they were so excited to see our new books. I believe that children need to see themselves in the texts that they read and they need to read and learn about the experiences of others to gain perspective.

Emily Style was credited with the Mirror/Window metaphor: A mirror is a story that reflects your own culture and helps you build your identity. A window is a resource that offers you a view into someone else's experience. Each of the books that we received allowed students to see themselves represented and they helped my students to understand others.

These texts led to rich and powerful discussions in which my students learned to express themselves as they learned to listen to others. They were able to connect, formulate opinions, share their own opinions and reflect.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cutile

  • Science Is Life!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

These materials are amazing! My students love learning about science especially when they get hands-on learning experiences. These materials were a huge hit with the students and I was so excited because I know that hands on learning experiences truly solidify learning.

We studied how fossils are formed. At the end of the unit, we had a Fossil Dig. They really felt like archeologists and paleontologists with the Fossils Dig Kits. They were able to describe how fossils were formed and how to excavate fossils during a classroom fossil dig.

My students were able to learn firsthand how plants grow as they pot and care for their plants, from seed to plant. My students loved observing how a plant grows from seed to plant using the Sprout and Grow Window.

These hands-on resources will continue to enrich our science curriculum and help to foster a love of science among my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cutile
