  • Chibitronics Paper Circuits for our MakerSpace Students!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Sorry for the lateness of this letter, but I wanted to share how much my students have enjoyed using the new Chibitronic resources that we were able to purchase because of your generosity. We have been using the LEDS's to create cards based on drawings that the students have created, and illuminated certain sections in their creations. They have been totally enjoying the experience and amazed at how such small LED sticker can make so much light.

When they were first introduced to the lights, there was definitely some jaws dropping in the makerspace, and some "WOW's" heard. They were definitely amazed at how these small LED stickers work. The next steps for my students will be when I have them use the code they created to create more complex light effects. This is very exciting to see their digital work being transferred onto lights they have physically created. Very exciting for both myself and my students.

Again, thank you so much, and Happy New Year!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sweeney

  • Learning to Code with Paper Circuits and Chibitronics

    Funded May 25, 2021

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me attend the Chibitronics session this summer. I know that my students will be the recipients of the advanced knowledge I received with being in the workshop using Chibitronics. Even though I have been an Ambassador for Chibitronics for many years, I still added to my knowledge base. This year I learned about using servos with the Chibitronics Chibi Chip (a microprocessor) that I will use with our paper circuits. This is something that with the knowledgable staff I was able to work on the coding and the setup of how to use these in my classroom. Again, this would not have been possible without you. I know my students will be really excited to learn with the Chibitronics codable LEDs to creat art and design in our makerspace.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sweeney

My students are always learning. They are always looking for something to create and make in our Makerspace. Art is a place for the students to be interactive with their environment. It is also a way for them to express themselves. All of them are very talented and love to put it to good use. 3D technology, coding, and creating art and designs is something that can be used to make my students interested in not only creating things, but school in general. My students are smart, witty, and eager to learn but they need the opportunity to try out many new technologies.
