Rub-a-Dub Clean and Organize Our Class!
Funded Nov 23, 2018I can never express what a game changer these materials have been in our classroom. First of all my kiddos were in complete awe when these huge boxes arrived at our door. With the help of these shelves, storage bins, and charging stations our whole routine has been improved. In the storage shelves students now have individual storage bins. We use these for our writing folders. Student work is so much more organized They are more productive because they can put their hands on their own work more easily. Our iPads are never dead because now student iPads have a home and a specific charging port. With the help of YOU our classroom runs so much more smoothly!”

Funded Nov 26, 2018The look on my students faces when they opened the boxes of materials were priceless! They were so amazed at their new seat sacks. We had to put them on our chairs right away! The seat sacks have helped keep us so organized and allows us to have our materials right at our fingertips! The flashlights have been perfect to use for science experiments. Students enjoyed creating a model of the solar system and each took turns being the "sun" and holding the flashlights. This tied in perfectly with our study of light and shadows. Students were able to make connections about the sun being an energy source. You guys made this possible with your kind donation to our classroom.”

Kinesthetic Learning in the Greatest Class on Earth!
Funded Oct 29, 2018Yet again you have made it happen! Research shows that movement gets the brain working! In order to promote movement in our first-grade classroom, the five tractor stools allow my students to move around while working in guided groups. We work in guided groups throughout the day in math, writing, reading, and during special products. Having these stools allows students to move while working. Having access to tractor stools within the classroom provides a more kinesthetic and healthy learning environment that is more developmentally appropriate for young learners. In addition, these stools help my first-grade students focus on the task and build their stamina for completing work. THANK YOU!!”

Funded Nov 2, 2018Technology has become an integral part of education. In our first grade class we use technology daily. IPads create motivation and engagement. We use our iPads in reading and math stations. This year in order to increase motivation during writing, students are using SeeSaw to record their finished books. With SeeSaw, students can share their completed books with their parents at home. We are over-joyed to have added two new iPads to our classroom with the help of your generous donations. These iPads allow students to record work! Also included in our project we received microphones for students to use when recording and cases to keep our iPads safe and sound. Thank you so much for contributing to this awesome project!”

Funded Jan 23, 2017Wow! I can not believe that it is already March. April is quickly approaching and my first graders are shooting up just like the flowers. SO MUCH LEARNING IS GOING ON. We have been busy reading the new books in our classroom that you made possible by donating to the project. During Read Across America week we were able to complete one of my most favorite writing activities because of the new book in our classroom library. Together we read "If I Had Duck Feet" by Dr. Seuss. Students then brainstormed a part of an animal they would like to have. I wish each and every one of you could have been in the classroom that day. Students were engaged, excited about learning, and inspired all because of a silly book. Thank you for donating and inspiring my students through their love of reading.”

iLearn with iPads
Funded Oct 4, 2016I cannot begin to explain the impact our new iPads have had on our classroom! We have math in the afternoons right after lunch so it is very hard for students to concentrate or even find the energy to participate. The first day we used our iPads, students in the class perked up! Every student was engaged and on task. Now, every day, students are excited for math stations and iPad time. This is possible because we now have enough iPads for everyone in the small group.
My favorite thing as a teacher is to watch is when the lightbulb comes on for a student and things all of a sudden click! With the use of our iPads, students are able to have access to new information and to see concepts presented in a different way. We have had a great time using our iPads to compete research and dive deeper into our Science and Social Studies surriculum. I wish you all could have seen the AWESOME student lead learning that was going on when students used iPads to complete research about the three rock types and then write their own non-fiction book. It was simply amazing.
Our iPads have made a huge difference in our classroom and for that I am truly thankful for each and every donation that made this possible!”

Funded Dec 10, 2015I cannot begin to explain the impact our document camera has had on our classroom! We have math in the afternoons right after lunch so it is very hard for students to concentrate or even find the energy to participate. The first day we used our ELMO EVERY student in the class perked up! Every student was engaged and working on their word problems in their notebook. I think that every hand was raised to volunteer to come up and show their work to the whole class using the document camera. Not only has ELMO brought excitement back into our math lessons, it also gives students a chance to really explain what they know!
My favorite thing as a teacher to watch is when the lightbulb comes on for a student and things all of a sudden click! With the use of our ELMO, students are able to explain their thinking and the strategies they used! Not only is this beneficial to the class (to see ANOTHER way the problem can be solved) but it has huge benefits to the student as well. Being able to explain your thinking about tell why allows me to know that these students finally get it and the concept has clicked!
I also love to use our ELMO as a tool during Authors Chair. Students pick a story they have written and illustrated to share with the class. Before, the class always strained to see the writing and illustration but now we can see with ease!
ELMO has made a huge difference in our classroom and for that I am truly thankful for each and every donation that made this possible!”
