If We Build it, They Will Come to SOCES Baseball
Funded Dec 5, 2015Thank you for your donation that provide the necessary equipment to begin building our field. Your contribution has made a change for the better. Not only physically but emotionally. Once we found out our project had funded, we had to wait due to the timing of our winter break.
Even though our students were on winter break, they were excited to begin our journey of building our own "Field of Dreams". Then once our players started seeing all the equipment arrive, they couldn't wait to get started. The whole team and parents came together and began the very laborious task of removing grass, building a mound, and laying dirt. The rakes that were purchased though this funding came in use right away as we leveled off the field.
As the team worked together to accomplish our goal, it was evident that they were also becoming closer. Not only were they coming together as a team but they were truly taking pride in building for their own future. Their camaraderie transferred onto the field so much so that currently they have had an undefeated league record. Prior to them working on this field, they were struggling to make a connection with one another so we thank each donor from the bottom of our hearts. We could not have jump started this field without your generous donations.”

Funded Jan 27, 2012Thanks to your generous donations, technology is truly at our fingertips because we are able to look up so many interesting things on the Internet and share them instantly. All of the adapters have allowed our classroom to function more smoothly. The students become very excited when they read about a particular animal like the Clarisa batrachus or a kookaburra and we are able to access the image and share it immediately on the big screen. Because of the durable covers, I am confident of the added protection needed when students use the touch screens. Thank you for helping us use technology to its fullest”

Gooooooal! Soccer time.
Funded Jan 19, 2012My students are so excited when we go out for physical education. I have so many volunteers to carry out our equipment that I've had to make it a rotating job. Even students that really didn't seem to enjoy P.E. are really enjoying themselves as they improve on their soccer skills. Because we have enough equipment for the whole class to share, we are able to break into smaller groups to work on different types of drills. Prior to your generous donation, the wait time was excessive and students would frequently lose interest. Now, they are engaged and encourage each other to improve. Each student is working at their own personal best. Thank you once again for supporting our class.”

Funded Jan 18, 2012Prior to having the thesaurus class set, students would not do a thorough job of editing and would frequently balk at the task. Now, students are excited to edit because they look forward to the challenge of making their writing more exciting by not using overused words. I encourage the students to use the thesaurus to change at least three words in their writing pieces. They get so excited because many of them are changing more than the three. In addition to using the thesaurus for writing, students are able to use the books to find synonyms and antonyms in their weekly vocabulary assignments.
All of which, gives them practice on using tangible references versus the instant digital references. This would not have been possible had it not been for all your generous donations. Once again, thank you.”

Funded Apr 13, 2007Thank you very much for your generous donation! My students are quite excited and can hardly wait for the new addition to our family. Since we had been working with surveys and graphing, we discovered that more than half of my students didn't have pets. The only animals they come in contact with are the ones in our classroom so this will definitely be a treat. Once again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. C and my 3rd grader”
