  • Literature Through Technology

    Funded Jun 20, 2024

I would like to thank you for helping in adding technology into the library of our classroom. With your help my students are able to access audio books while sitting in the library.

This small act will help young children in the development of their cognitive skills, fine motor skills, language acquisition, creativity, and will help prepare them for a future heavily reliant on digital literacy; allowing them to navigate and utilize technology effectively in their daily lives and education. A special thank you to the Neukom Family Foundation and all of the donors that made this project possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Fun Learning Environment

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you for all of your wonderful donations, with your help I was able to provide my students with a welcoming environment. Our under the sea theme has been a great hit. The students love the classroom and are motivated to come to school everyday.

The supplies that were donated such as the laminator and ink has allowed me to take pictures of families print them and laminate them. When the students are sad and missing their parents all they have to do is look at their pictures and know their parents will pick them up soon. I was also able to print and laminate student's pictures in order to make the classroom their own. The supplies for the light table allow students to use the light table while learning their shapes and colors. I am able to display student work using the black cork boards. The children love looking at their creations.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Keeping It Cool!

    Funded May 8, 2024

I would like to give you a heart felt thank you! Our refrigerator was not working and our little ones needed one to keep their snacks from going bad specially during the hot months.

Your donation helped eighteen students keep their yogurts, water, and milk cold. We are also part of a cooking program where students learn about vegetables. This refrigerator helps us keep the vegetables fresh and ready for our Friday's cooking class.

Once again thank you for your generous donation! People like you make a difference in the world!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Number Experts

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for your donations. With your donations we were able to host a workshop for parents on how to help their child with number sense at home. Good number sense helps children manipulate numbers to make calculations easier and gives them the confidence to be flexible in their approach to solving problems. Children who develop number sense can assess how reasonable an answer is, and routinely estimate answers before calculating. With your help parents were able to take home a kit with materials needed to make our students mathematicians.”

  • Love to Read

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for helping my classroom! Your donations have helped students learn pre-emergent reading skills at home.

These skills help students become fluent readers. They learn how to hold a book, what words and illustrations are, as well as what is the cover. We also model reading from left to right. The illustrations serve as conversation starters. We held a parent workshop in helping parents understand these skills and model how to use them. Your donations helped in providing the parents with books to practice these skills at home with their child. Once again thank you.”

  • Learning Environment

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for donating to my class. The materials have helped the students in tremendous ways. The easel does not only serve to help in parallel teaching, but it helps in holding charts, or books to read. We use the dry erase board to have students practice writing their letters and numbers. The storage baskets help in keeping our classroom organized and neat. The students love using the rug with the cars. These helps in building language as they play and talk about what they are doing. Once again thank you for your help in accomplishing our goals in providing a productive classroom environment.”

  • Summer Brain Quest

    Funded Jun 29, 2022

Thank you for the impact the summer quest books have establish in my classroom. The students get to practice the skills taught at school, in the comfort of their home with their parents. These activities include letter names, letter sounds, number recognition, counting, learning our shapes, colors, and other mathematical skills. Some students even choose to do the activities at school during small group instruction.

Your contributions are helping in developing our future authors, scientists, and mathematicians. Thank you for your help in impacting two classes in the South Bronx. Your generosity doesn't go noticed!”

  • Mathematicians in the Making

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you for your wonderful donations. Your donations helped our students develop mathematical foundational skills needed for kindergarten. The students as well as the parents were very excited with the take home math packets provided during spring break. The packets included a floor puzzle to help students count to twenty, as well as a tray to help students count using everyday at home items. Students will be able to also write, trace and make numbers with wikki stixs! The parents will be able to play with their children while teaching mathematical skills! • Spruce Up Our Gross Motor Area!

    Funded Feb 16, 2022

I would like to take this time to thank you for your donations. Your donations helped four early childhood classes develop their gross motor skills! As the weather gets warmer the students are able to go down the slide, kick balls while playing soccer, experience how fun a see saw can be, and learn how to hit a ball with a bat.

These activities are helping the students develop social skills as well as learn life long skills needed as they grow and become independent learners.

People like you make a difference in the world. Thank you!”

    Mrs. Cruz

  • Let's Begin to Read!

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations. Your donations provided me with the opportunity to teach parents how to help their children become readers at home. Phonics is essential in helping children become readers. Introductions to phonics through engaging learning experiences can start from the ages of 3 and 4.

The materials are helpful in learning phonics through play, the puzzles allows students to identify uppercase as well as lowercase letters. The little leaves that come along with the puzzle will be used to place letters in alphabetical order and sing the alphabet song. The alphabet cards with sticky sticks, will be help children learn how letters are form. They will trace the letter with their finger, trace the letter with a dry erase marker and finally make the letter with sticky sticks. The notebook will help parents in communicating with their children as well as help with their fine motor skills. Students will draw pictures in the notebooks, and parents will ask students what is the drawing about, making sure students draw details in their drawings. These are the beginnings of writing skills. As you can see your donations allowed me to teach parents how to help their children at home become readers.”

My students consist of three to four year olds. They all come from low income families with limited resources. My students are highly motivated to learn. Though they live in the poorest congressional district in the country, they constantly surprise me with their motivation and enthusiasm. I am lucky to be their teacher because I learn as much from them as they learn from me.
