Sensory Walk
Funded Sep 20, 2023I cannot express how thankful I am for your generosity. Our students are going to be so excited! My hope is to create a sensory walk in our high traffic areas that can meet the needs of all of our students.
These tools will benefit our entire school community!
Be on the look out for pictures of our project in action.
Thank you so much!!”

Funded Dec 3, 2019I can't wait to share with my kiddos that they have new books coming to our classroom! They are eager readers- really, I can't keep enough books our classroom library! Thank you providing relevant books to my students that will enrich our read aloud time and generate meaningful discussion around inclusion, tolerance and diversity!”

Funded May 7, 2019I can't begin to describe how grateful I am to have a community of support like this! At the beginning of the year we could barely get 5 minutes of reading in without distractions. Now, they are fully engaged in their reading for 45 minutes. I feel terribly because I can't keep up with how quickly they are reading through their series. I am maxed out at the public library! I can't wait to see their expressions when we have new books to add to our classroom library!
Words cannot describe the impact that you've made to our classroom. My students have found a love for reading. They have learned that reading can transport them to another place entirely. This is something that can't be taught, but must be found in a book :)”

Funded Oct 26, 2018Thank you so much for the wonderful donation to our classroom! I had students that really struggled with staying focused during reading. They would be back and forth to the library, digging for books that were at their level and that interested them. Reading felt like a chore, or something they HAD to do because Ms. Sherman told them to read. Now, I see students fully engaged in their reading for 30-40 minutes each morning! Students that have read the first volumes of books we have in the Babysitters Club or Dragon Masters series are asking for the next volume. I have students asking for me to pre-order the next books in the series they are currently reading! I have never seen my students so eager and excited to read.

Funded Apr 8, 2018This project was a little different because it was for a field trip. Our students usually participate in the 4th grade sleepover at the science museum. Unfortunately, the students in our English Neighborhood Programming strand are being moved to a new school and won't be getting that experience that the other 4th graders have gotten before them. The majority of my students have never been to the science museum due to fees, transportation, etc.
I followed my students from 2nd to 3rd grade and this transition is emotional for me too. To have a big "ta da!" at the end of the school year was a goal of mine. My students are resilient and they deserve to be recognized for that.
When the project was funded, I didn't tell my students at first because I wanted it to stay as much of a surprise as possible! When they did find out... they lost it! They were SO excited! Luckily we were able to bring several chaperones too so students could explore the museum and see as much as they could. The Planetarium was absolutely amazing and engaging; not one student got up to use the bathroom which in the teaching world, is a miracle! When we returned to school, we felt like an even stronger community.
Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity!”

The Weather Outside is Frightful
Funded Jan 5, 2018Thank you so much for understanding that learning is harder when basic needs aren't met. In the cold winter months, my students each had a pair of gloves to keep their little hands warm. Doesn't matter if its rain, snow, or sunshine our students are outside for recess. These gloves made all the difference. Having nutritious snacks for students that are unable to learn because their bellies are grumbling from the night before has made their learning more meaningful. The disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer have really done their job; my students are never sick! I hope you know what an amazing impact you've had on my classroom this year ”

Headphones for Differentiated Learning
Funded Mar 7, 2018Thank you so much for your wonderful donations! We are so grateful for your support. These headphones are tools that my students use daily across several subject areas. My students constantly get poked and scratched by the few pairs of low quality headphones that I had in my classroom. Students would be terrified to tell me that they broke my headphones- when in fact I am surprised that they've lasted as long as they have. My students are incredibly respectful to classroom tools.
These are their words, their voice! This was another project posted at my students request. When they are in need of something, like a water bottle, markers or headphones, my students are proactive. They ask me to pull up the site, and together we work on a project.
They will no longer feel nervous to have their peers listen to their lessons. This means they will be able to access content at their level, whether emergent or exceeding, while I am not in the front of the room teaching. These headphones have been described "beautiful", "sparkly", "feels like CLOUDS ON MY EARS!"
Thank you so much again! You have made such a big impact on our classroom!”

Ms. S.

Funded Jan 9, 2018This project was completely my students idea! They were tired of wasting paper cups, wasting time and creating waste in our environment. They knew that I used a website to write projects for them, and together they came up with "Reducing our Carbon Footprint". The project was funded so quickly- I was excited to pull up the site and show them that their voices had been heard and that they do have an impact!
They absolutely love their water bottles, and treat their new gift with respect. Thank you for showing my students that they have a voice in our community!”

Funded Jul 17, 2017I am so excited to share the impact that these STEM materials have had on our class! I introduced the supplies by putting but a brand new book display for our new books. This got the kiddos excited because there were new books in the room. My students loved our classroom read-alouds and were really interested in building and creating something of their own.
These materials help build my classroom community. My students are the only English strand and a Dual Immersion school and have been together for several years and they lack basic problems solving skills. To start the school year, my students were assigned partners and projects to complete together to help them create community, practice problem solving and give them the opportunity to create something with another students. Having these materials has been a huge blessing and it is something that we utilize daily.
Thank you so much again!”

Are you Mindful... or is Your Mind Full?
Funded Mar 29, 2017Thank you so much for your support! I am honored that this project was funded so quickly. We spent all year learning about the zones of regulation and how to move back into the green zone when we are feeling yellow or red. These tools helped my students learn how to ask for a break and use the tools meaningfully. My students and I feel so grateful to be apart of a larger community that cares about students in need.
We have made several batches of play dough where I have added some of the essential oils that were part of the project. They love closing their eyes and taking a big mindful smell. The deep breathing that they practice during this time allows them to self regulate.
Thank you so much for supporting us!!”

Ms. S.
