  • iPad: Bringing Technology Into the Counseling World

    Funded Jan 22, 2022

Thank you for helping to fund technology and bringing it into the counseling world in high school. My students are excited to get to use an iPad in small counseling groups, individual sessions, and as a way for therapeutic escapes. Having an iPad for school counseling purposes gives my students the ability to use different apps for different areas of focus. I have students who have used the iPad as a virtual tour as they've looked at different campuses of institutions they may be interested in. Others have used guided meditation apps and other students use different exercise apps. I love what the iPad brings to the world and the different apps schools can use to reach different students' needs.

I am able to take the iPad with me to different classes as I present lessons for character ed, resiliency lessons, and other lessons specific to different classes. It is something I use every day, and I can't imagine trying to function without it!

Thanks for helping make a difference in the lives of so many students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Packard

  • iPad: Bringing Technology into Plans for College and Career Readiness

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

Thank you for helping to fund technology and bringing it into the counseling world in high school. My students are excited to get to use an iPad in small counseling groups, individual sessions, and as a way for therapeutic escapes. Having an iPad for school counseling purposes gives my students the ability to use different apps for different areas of focus. I have students who have used the iPad as a virtual tour as they've looked at different campuses of institutions they may be interested in. Other students have used the iPad for the purpose of recording their thoughts into a private journal they lock, a journal to keep track of their moods, and set goals. I've had students use guided meditation apps and other students use different exercise apps. I love what the iPad brings to the world and the different apps schools can use to reach different students' needs. So far, some of the favorite uses of the iPad with my students are different "escape" apps. One app, Virtual Hope Box, has different subcategories: Distract Me, Inspire Me, Relax Me, and Coping Tools. This has instantly become one of the favorites for my students who are struggling or simply need an escape for a few minutes. Other favorites include therapeutic coloring pages for students of all grades.

As a professional, I love using the iPad as a way to jot down notes when meeting with individual students, as well as small group sessions. Having an iPad has made it convenient to take with me different places, as I'm not always meeting with students in my office at my computer. It has been an easy way for me to quickly write down what was discussed, and I'm able to take the information and record it in Google Docs while back at my office. I am able to take the iPad with me into different classes as I present lessons for character ed, resiliency lessons, and other lessons specific to different classes. It is something I use every day, and I can't imagine trying to function without it! Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of so many students. Your generosity doesn't go unnoticed, and it is most certainly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Packard

  • iPad: Bringing Technology to our Classroom

    Funded Oct 10, 2016

Thank you for helping to fund technology in our classroom. My students are so excited to get more iPads in our classroom. Having iPads within the classroom allows me to individualize instruction to a students' specific needs as well as provide opportunities for them to collaborate with students in other classrooms. Students will have the ability to visit places they would never be able to through online Field Trips. My students will be able to explore and expand their knowledge through the use of technology.

My students are most excited about being able to use our iPads for QR Codes, reading, and different math apps we've been introduced to. We've also been using the iPad to show student work through our projector during math. Thanks again for your generous donations. My students are thrilled to receive them!”

    With gratitude,
