Reading gives you a place to go when you have to stay home. This past year during the pandemic students have been stuck at home with limited access to books and exciting learning experiences. Help me fill the gaps with books that will not just engage and excite my students, but also help them learn and grow as readers. Reading is a wonderful thing because it helps build countless skills and can be incorporated into many subjects. Just by opening a good book students can build vocabulary and writing skills. By talking about books, students can build retelling and comprehension skills. But, students need books that interest them in order to talk about them. That is why I created this project. The books I have chosen for my class will also build social-emotional skills as well as an appreciation for diversity. Help me give my students their dream.
