  • Organize Us!

    Funded Dec 29, 2012

Thank you all so very much for supporting our classroom! As you know, my students don't have a lot, so I have to work extra hard to give them everything that they deserve. A lot of the time the greatest struggle in this is simply being organized enough to get through a lesson! With this new organization center, everything I need while I am teaching is right at my fingertips. No more going back and forth fumbling for materials, while the students lose interest. I am able to go through my lessons seamlessly, keeping my students engaged and learning the entire time!

Thank you so much for this invaluable classroom tool!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Dear Mr. Henshaw, Help us Become Better Readers and Writers!

    Funded Apr 17, 2011

Thank you so much for your continued support towards my classroom! All your donations have made such a great impact on my teaching, and therefor my students. In particular, I am very excited about this new donation!

Dear Mr. Henshaw is a wonderful book that serves many different purposes. It brings my students into the life of a character we don't often see in literature, someone struggling with divorce. "Leigh" is a character that many of my children relate to, so they love hearing his story. For many of my students, sharing Leigh's story, helps them deal with their own family issues.

On top of the valuable connections my students make with Dear Mr. Henshaw, the book is a great writing tool. Because the book is in letter format, I am able to easily transition from a reading lesson to a writing lesson, helping my students grow as writers.

Thank you again for this wonderful donation, and for all the support you have given!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Read to Learn, Learn to Read

    Funded Dec 31, 2010

I really can not thank you enough for your donation! Once I put the books in the classroom library the children couldn't get enough of them. We have been heavily focusing on social studies, particularly Colonial times and the American Revolution. The kids have even been creating comic books and moves based on these themes.

Normally, doing research for social studies projects takes the children forever. This is because they do not have access to very many books on their level to learn from. That changed when we received these books. The children were constantly coming up to me with a book in their hands saying "Ms. C! We can use this for our project!" or "Ms. C! Look! This is all about George Washington!" Seeing their excitement to learn brightened up my day, and made all the extra work worth it.

Thank you so much for making all of this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Level 1... 2... 3... This book's for me!!!

    Funded Jan 5, 2011

Thank you so very much for the books!

As soon as I put the books into the library, the children were excited. We had just finished a project on the Thirteen Colonies and when they found those books, they just kept saying "We could have used this!" Now, they are eagerly searching the library for books on their new project, The American Revolution. The children are constantly coming up to me proudly displaying a book saying "Look what I found! This will help with my project!" Their eagerness to read the books and do research for their projects is thrilling! I can not wait to see their finished products!

Thank you for making research fun for my students!”

  • Falling For Bridge To Terabithia

    Funded Dec 24, 2010

Thank you so very much for your wonderful donation! Bridge to Terabithia is such an incredible book, and I love reading with my class! Even though the book is above their grade level, as a read aloud they are able to fully understand the theme of the story. The children always fall in love with the book, and by the end, there is never a dry eye in the room (including my own).

Because of your generous gift, this year when I read the book every single student in my class will have their own copy. As a result, if they are absent when I read from the book, or if they had a little bit if trouble, they can always read on their own! On top of that, knowing that they aren't just listening to a higher level book but actually reading it gives them a great sense of empowerment!

Thank you so very much for doing this for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Liven Up Our Library!!!

    Funded Jan 3, 2011

I can not thank you enough for your donation!!! The carpet is absolutely amazing! Not only is it clean, which is really helping with my asthma students, but it is so colorful and fun! My students and I can not wait to go to the carpet for a lesson! They are always asking me if they can go read or write their stories at the carpet. I love seeing their enthusiasm!

The boxes have also been a tremendous help in organizing our library. Books aren't crammed together anymore, and I was able to create a sorting system where the students can easily find exactly what they are looking for. It also helps when it's time to return books. There is no more mess or clutter!

Thanks again for this amazing addition to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

  • Making Tuck Everlasting LAST

    Funded Oct 28, 2010

Thank you very much for your kind donation! I am incredibly excited to read this book with my class. This will be my first time reading this book with one of my classes, but I am confident that they will be able to do it. It's a fabulous story and I know that the children will be able to get a lot out of it, especially since they will each have their own copy to follow along with.

The children area also very excited to begin reading this book. They know that it is going to be a challenge for them, but it's a challenge they are ready for!

Thank you for your support, and your confidence in my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

    Funded Nov 2, 2010

Thank you so very much for your wonderful donation!!! Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing is an amazing book, and every year my class loves reading it. While it's been a great book to read each school year, it is sometimes difficult for my students to follow along, or keep up, especially if they were absent one day when I read the book. Having their own copy has helped eliminate this problem when I read the book with them this year!

It made such a difference with each student having their own copy of the book. They loved reading along with me, and I loved that they were able to go back and re-read sections at home. It really helped them understand the book that much more!

Thank you again for this great addition to my library!!!”

  • Hear Our Opera Voices!

    Funded Aug 15, 2010

Thank you all so much for your generous donation! I am so excited to be performing The Mikado this year, and am thrilled that the children's voices will be heard! Last year my class worked so hard to put on Pirates of Penzance, and they did an amazing job. The only problem was we just couldn't hear them! This year, with the microphone you helped me order, that won't be a problem!

I cannot wait to see the children on stage, and hear them singing the opera! I look forward to their excitement in knowing what they were able to do, and that everyone was able to hear it! Thank you so much again for this amazing gift to my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

  • Sing Along to an Opera!

    Funded Oct 28, 2010

Thank you all so much for your wonderful donation! I have been very excited to start teaching the Guilbert and Sullivan opera, The Mikado, to my class. Your donation has made that possible! We have finally started practicing!!! The Karaoke machine you helped my class receive has made learning the songs for the Mikado a breeze!

Last year my class learned another Gilbert and Sullivan opera, Pirates of Penzance. While the opera was a lot of fun for the children to learn and perform, the audience couldn't hear my students over the recording voices playing on my i-pod. With this new karaoke machine, I was able to pull the vocals off the CD, and change the key the music is sung in. Now, not only are my students able to sing along and hear themselves, they are able to sing in a vocal range that is comfortable for them! It's made such a difference!!! I can already tell that the quality of their singing has improved from last years group!!!

I cannot express how grateful I am for your donation!!! I am so excited to continue practice and go on to put on an amazing performance! Thank you for contributing to that!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cooledge Fazio

I am the technology teacher in my school. My students come to me to learn new and exciting ways to share what they are learning in class. I work with the classroom teachers to create fun digital projects based on what they are learning in class, keeping students engaged in learning! 3rd graders learning how to multiply, create movies playing out number stories requiring a character to multiply. 4th graders learning about New York history create interactive journals depicting a day in the life of early settlers of New Amsterdam. 5th graders learning about being safe on the internet create comics depicting the effects of good or bad choices online. When they come to my room, the possibilities of what they create are endless!
