  • Physics and Chemistry Sensors

    Funded Jul 25, 2024

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to our project. Because of your kindness, our classroom now has physics and chemistry sensors that will truly revolutionize how our students experience science.

These sensors are more than just tools—they are gateways to deeper understanding and exploration. They will allow our students to conduct experiments that bring science to life, helping them grasp complex concepts in ways that are both exciting and meaningful. Your donation is opening doors for these young minds, giving them the chance to prepare for college and careers in STEM, and helping them see their potential in fields they might never have considered before.

Your support is making a lasting difference, not just in the lessons we teach but in the lives of the students who will carry these skills and knowledge into their futures.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carroll

  • Air Conditioner

    Funded Aug 21, 2023

Thank you so much for your help at getting an AC for the classroom. These past few weeks (and even months) when we've had such extremely warm weather, it has truly been a blessing for students to be able to focus on their work, and not be distracted by being uncomfortable from the heat.

On warm days, fresh from lunch, students will come in and stand in front of the unit for a few seconds to cool down before taking their seats. Instead of having tons of fans loudly blowing (to minimal cooling effect), we can have just a few quieter fans circulating air while the AC cools that air down. The quality of life that students experience in the class on warm days is night and day.

Thank you again for your support; I hope that we can build support for classrooms to get built in AC in the future, but these kinds of units are an important adaptation measure for us in the meantime.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carroll

  • Little LGBTQ+ Library!

    Funded Mar 1, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to complete this project so quickly. Most of the books have arrived, and students have already jumped at checking them out. I'm so excited to keep developing this project so the library will continue to grow. It's clear that students have a desire to read these kinds of books, based on their enthusiasm, and this is going to be life changing for them.

I look forward to continuing to shopping for books that tell a wide variety of lived experiences that are focused on LGBTQ+ identities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carroll

  • New Electronic Balances

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you for your help in buying new electronic balances for the students. Students are already excited to be using these tools in class. We are currently doing a calorimetry lab which is allowing students to precisely measure the amount of energy in a candle, and now that they can precisely measure the mass, they can calculate the energy mass density of this kind of hydrocarbon! We are in a unit to learn about wildfires using chemistry so your donation has really helped students to draw connections between the learning in class and the real world. Together, we're building a classroom community of students who feel empowered to understand and make decisions about their environment!”

  • Outfitting the Gender Affirming Closet

    Funded Oct 4, 2022

Thank you for all your help in getting this project funded. This is going to make such a meaningful difference in students' lives. Already students are using this Closet to take clothes and express themselves more fully. We have been able to throw a fashion show to launch this service, with models from our Gender and Sexualities Alliance. I'm very excited to see how the space will evolve, and how students will take this space and make it their own.

Making sure that we support ALL students as they take this next step towards adulthood means that students will be entering the world more sure of themselves, more confident in expressing their identity, and understanding that every part of themself is something to be celebrated! Thank you for your support in building a space that supports that kind of personal development for young people.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carroll

  • New Lab Demos

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you for all your help in getting this project funded. I'm so excited to be able to carry out some exciting demos! The demos with refraction will be very cool and allow students to more easily understand how refraction works. And the Lenz' law demo has already wowed a few students who saw this tool come in. They're so excited to learn how it works!

Thank you again for stepping in to support public high school education. It is troubling that community members have to take such an active role to provide adequate resources to students, but I am truly grateful that you were able to contribute directly to my classroom!”

  • New Lab Glassware

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you for all your help in getting this project funded. This glassware will be very helpful in my chemistry class to ensure that students all have a high quality science educational experience. The cabinets right now are overflowing with the glasses, and now students can choose the appropriate glassware for their experiments! The challenge now becomes training them to clean these glasses properly!

  • Locks for a Secure Classroom

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

These locks are providing an invaluable resource to students to protect our shared belongings. Over time, with help from donors like yourself, we have been able to buy a fair amount of resources for our school. This has enabled students to have an authentic, rigorous high school science experience in chemistry and physics. And just like any place, it's important that we protect these resources for future classes so they have access to the same resources.

With these locks, I am hoping that these resources will last for decades into the future.”

  • Crafting Supplies for Science (STEAM)

    Funded Sep 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations! When I assembled the craft boxes, I immediately saw students take to using the sharpies, glue sticks, and scissors to personalizing their notebooks, and putting color in their models and notebooks.

Seeing students just "rainbow-ify" their science notebook covers to express their identities so confidently brings me so much joy.

I am so excited to have the students begin to make posters on the colorful (and plain) posters. This unit is around the periodic table in chemistry, and forces and earthquakes in physics, and I can't wait to have students demonstrate their understandings on these broad topics with colors and pictures on posters.”

  • Continue Building a High Quality Science Classroom!

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you all so much for your donations! I am so excited to use these materials when we go back to being in person. A spectrophotometer, charge sensors, power suppliers; these can all really make some awesome lessons!

I cannot wait to have students be able to analyze gases, construct radios, and understand their world more deeply! We will be able to analyze the composition of the atmosphere, and more fully these complex chemical and physical phenomena.

I am hoping that in the future we can continue to rely on awesome donations from folks like you to build the science lab classroom these young scientists deserve!”

The robotics kits will train students in a more general understanding of how robots take in data, process, and execute actions in a complex environment. In particular, the challenge kit offers a way for the students to learn the coding, mechanical engineering, physics, and teamwork skills essential to a robotics team. Since these students are the first at this school to start this robotics team, they need to learn the fundamentals of robotics so they can train future generations of their team. Currently, the space the students work in doesn't have any allocated storage for them to keep parts, tools, or robots, and they need this space to be successful.
