• Africa Book Time!

  Thank you for your generous donation towards our project. Because of your generosity, you have afforded our future leaders the opportunity to explore the pages of various fiction and nonfiction texts that fit the demographics of the students at our free and appropriate middle school that covers the state standards dealing with Africa. Our scholars have been able to effectively "see" themselves through the pages of these various fiction and nonfiction selections, and have begun to see how reading is not a "chore," but instead a tool to expand their horizons and become productive citizens.

  With these books, I have had the opportunity to appear as a guest in our 6th-8th grade Social Studies classes to conduct "book tastings" with students and teachers to give a synopsis of each book in hopes that they hear something to spark their interest and encourage them to want to read the book. Amazingly, after each class, some of our more reluctant readers were lined up to check out a book for their reading pleasure.”
