Sometimes teachers focus on test and grades, parents focus on behavior, but my students focus on soccer. School is stressful enough and for some students home is too. They need an activity that they enjoy, that can act as a stress relief for the day to day school tests and assignments. For many of my students, soccer is life. Many of the students at my school are actively involved in soccer clubs and teams outside of school. Soccer is an activity that teaches them teamwork and has them active. For some of them is part of their culture or a tradition in their family. Soccer is something they are good at, it makes them feel unique and it gives them a break from their usual routine. It's more than a hobby or a sport, it gives meaning to their life. When this project gets funded, our students will be able to practice their soccer skills outside on our sports fields and we will be able to set up multiple games at once to involve more students. With class sizes being 60-67 students in a class, it is hard to keep students actively participating throughout with limited goals and soccer balls.
