Teaching young ladies in grades 6-8 about an active healthy lifestyle and their personal hygiene is extremely important. Unfortunately, some students simply do not know what it means or were not taught this information. I want to make sure that my students are actively exerting energy in PE and leave comfortable and confident not self-conscious and unfocused. When they have the opportunity and supplies to shower and freshen up, they will do so. As a former classroom teacher, I have witnessed the negative effects poor hygiene can have in a class setting such as bullying, disrespect, lack of focus and poor behavior choices. All of these behaviors hinder the learning process for students in the classroom. The benefits of these items will increase personal development, comfort levels, confidence, focus and ultimately academic success.
