Growing Minds: Hydroponic Gardening for STEM Success
Funded Mar 12, 2025Dear Generous Donor,
On behalf of my ESOL students and me, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for funding our DonorsChoose project. Thanks to your kindness, we now have plant towers and essential supplies that will bring hands-on learning to life in our classroom.
Your support is helping us cultivate young minds in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Math—building not just a garden, but a future full of curiosity, innovation, and discovery. Watching our students engage, explore, and grow through this project is truly inspiring, and it wouldn’t be possible without you!
Thank you for believing in our students and investing in their learning. We appreciate you more than words can express!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Foster

Funded Dec 18, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity! The books, bookshelves, and bean bags have completely transformed our classroom, creating a cozy reading corner that my students absolutely love. The first time they saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement, and they couldn't wait to dive into the books. They immediately started reading to themselves and to each other, which has fostered not only a love for reading but also a sense of community as they share stories together.
One of the highlights so far has been a project where students select a book from the reading corner and prepare a brief presentation on their favorite part of the story. They get to read aloud to the class, practice summarizing, and develop their public speaking skills. This has been an incredible confidence boost for many students, especially those who were initially hesitant about reading in front of others.
Our next steps will focus on using these materials to improve reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Students will begin working on small group book studies, discussing themes and characters while expanding their vocabulary. The reading corner has truly become the heart of our classroom, and it's all thanks to your support.”
With gratitude,

Funded Nov 10, 2015Your donation of the up-to-date books, book carts, and bean bag chairs was the highlight of our student's day. When the materials arrived, I assembled the carts, organized the books, and rearranged the room before the next school day. When they arrived, the students could hardly contain themselves. Excitement filled the room. They immediately ran over to the newly created room library and began scanning books and taking turns sitting in the bean bag chairs.
We received the books, carts, and bean bags just over a week ago. The students have already read several books. They have establish a student led challenge of who can read the most books by the end of the school year. The students then sat down and developed a rubric on how to hold each reader accountable for the amount of books read. There is a check off list with questions for each book. At the end of ten books, each student receives the privilege of eating lunch with the teacher and a select group of their peers.
The joy of reading has truly become a manifestation in this room. I cried when I heard a little girl in our room tell her mother that this was the most exciting room she had ever been in. She told her, that the new books made her feel special. I know that sounds very simple, but this gift has made a world of difference to our students. Many times as adults we take for granted that something as simple as reading a book makes a difference. I would challenge any one to look at the children's faces as they read. Reading challenges the mind, develops imagination, gives information, all while helping them explore different, new, and exciting things. It also proposes challenges and establishes additional concepts. For many of our students it gives them a means of escape from tragedy, poverty, and violence. It becomes a brand new word of possibilities and adventures.
Thank you so much for this donation. Our students are grateful and truly appreciate this donation. I am so overwhelmed at the attitude my students now have for reading. This attitude could not have been possible with your help. As these students progress to the next plateau in life, this will be one of their fondest memories. Again, I must say Thank you. Mere words will never be able to express our thoughts and appreciation.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Foster
