My students love art. The problem is that a limited budget means limited supplies. Your donation can help push this group of young adults with autism out of their coloring funk. They can learn so much more by using a wider variety of materials. Construction paper, drawing papers and white butcher paper will give them a great base to experiment on with water colors, acrylic paints and oil pastels. The brushes and No-Spill Paint cups will be a great help in this area. Not only will they have a visual experience but a tactile one as well. They will be able to squish and mold the Crayola Model Magic clay as well as add textures with texture rollers. Using craft sticks, craft stems (pipe cleaners), tissue papers, buttons, glue sticks and glue dots we will get to explore mixed-media and 3-D art. All of these new supplies will require a bit of organization. The two carrying cases and interlocking storage containers will be a great help with that. My hope is that the books I’ve included will be inspirational, educational and entertaining. Will each kid love each medium? Probably not but this will give them the chance to find out. Art has the ability to give voice to those who felt they had none. Help my kiddos find their own unique voices.
