  • Let's Celebrate Diversity!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I wanted my students to see a representation of their unique and beautiful skin tones in our classroom and thanks to you, they can! With these multicultural art supplies students can celebrate diversity in our classroom!

During our art projects students can use these new materials to represent their own diverse identities. When students make a picture of themselves, their friends, their families or develop their own characters, they now have access to many different skin tones. Because of your donation all students feel seen and represented through our classroom materials!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Singh

  • More Books...More Reading!

    Funded Nov 20, 2022

Thank you for helping my students get new books for our classroom library. Students are able to choose from a variety of books that allow them to read independently at their own reading level. Having these new leveled books in our classroom, allows myself to use a leveled text to help students build their word recognition skills. Alternatively, I can use a leveled text above students current reading level to help them develop their vocabulary skills. These books have also encouraged students to discuss texts in small groups or as a whole class. My first graders are reading more and more, and I could have not done this without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Singh

  • Home Library!

    Funded Oct 20, 2022

Thank you for your generous donation for our 'Home Library!' project! With your help, our students have been able to practice their reading skills at home. Parents love having their child read to them, and they have seen so much growth in their reading!

During reading worksop, students also use these new books to read independently and then with a partner. Partner reading helps students take turns reading and provide each other feedback, which helps monitor their comprehension.

All of the students in the class are enjoying the new books. There has been extensive research to show that students who have immediate and ongoing access to engaging books in their classrooms and at home, exhibit higher reading achievement, better comprehension and an increased vocabulary!

We are very thankful for your help to reach academic success!”

Since our classroom is filled with enthusiastic readers, the books in our library have been read over and over! With these new books, students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own reading level. These selected books also support our Reading and Writing Units! Students who have access to great books become great readers! By providing students access to a rich classroom library, they can attain reading achievement. Sometimes classroom libraries can become too familiar and stale, which makes students lose interest. Please help me keep our classroom library surprising and engaging!
