As I spent my summer gearing up for this coming school year, I took time to reflect on last year's loss of instructional time due to disruptions and classroom interruptions. Much of that time had to do with students' inherent inabilities or difficulties in focusing for a given length of time. I wanted to find a way to offer them something that would be a "win-win" for my classroom. After reading many articles on research and classroom management, I decided that I wanted to offer my students flexible seating. This means that there will be limited traditional seating (desks) and I will have various types of chairs, tables, and other seating arrangements. Although I have been able to find much of what I needed through local Goodwill stores, I am still in need of a tall table and stools for those students who have difficulty remaining seated.
