My students are in need of mentor texts that will allow me, as their teacher, to connect the skills we are learning about to something that they will relate to personally. Students work hard to understand the things we are teaching, but sometimes we need a mentor text to drive home what theme, skill or target we are learning about. My students need mentor texts to help gain better understanding of the content I'm teaching and they are learning. I want them to understand the content in ways that make sense to them, and not struggle through stories that they don't really connect to. I work hard to help them try to connect, but the mentor texts will really drive that home.

About my class
