I teach at a diverse public school that serves a high poverty suburban area. Over 90% of our students receive free/reduced rate lunch and about 65% are English language learners. The most vital part of my job is to get these children reading! Our school lacks current materials and technology to successfully teach literacy skills or meet Common Core State Standards.
