Funded Aug 6, 2018Thank you very much for supplying my 2nd grade students with hands-on, engaging curriculum. You have provided them with curriculum that is rigorous and meets all of our state standards. This is my 1st year teaching 2nd grade and this curriculum has allowed me to focus on their needs instead of searching for lessons to meet the standards that I need to teach. I have been amazed at the variety of literature that my students have been exposed to. Many of the lessons build on each other, but they can also be used interchangeably to allow for flexibility.
I have found that my students have really enjoyed the science lessons. They love completing projects such as designing a way to prevent erosion. They created a sand sculpture and used a hair dryer to demonstrate wind erosion and used sugar cubes and water to demonstrate glacial erosion. These lessons took little time to prepare or teach, but the left a big impression on them because they still talk about these lessons. The past few weeks, we've been studying American Government and it was amazing to see the power of learning that was taking place. After the lesson, they were able to tell me the 3 branches of government and the roles of each branch. They were so proud to learn something that many adults don't know; once again, the lessons were short, meaning and hands-on. I'm looking forward to many more of these lesson, especially in math. The math lessons have pushed them further than I ever imagined. I've even had parents tell me they are amazed at what their child is able to accomplish! Thank you so much!”

Funded Jul 15, 2017Our class has truly enjoyed getting to use so many hands-on manipulatives. We've been able to use them during small group instruction and 1 on 1 with the teacher. Some of our favorite activities include putting our ABCs in order, matching uppercase to lowercase letters using the locks and keys, building words and adding using counters and numbers. We have been able to use these manipulatives on a daily basis. Your donation has helped to make learning so much fun and appropriate for young children. Thank you!”

Building a Solid Foundation for Reading!
Funded Jul 12, 2017Our kids have had a blast using these amazing magnetic whiteboards! The kids were so amazed that they were magnetic and they love writing on them because they "feel like a teacher". We are able to use them during whole group activities, small group math and reading and as well as one-on-one. It has been so nice to be able to use these boards across our curriculum whether it's reading, writing, counting or building words; we're able to do it with ease because of these boards. We are truly grateful for your generosity! We will continue to use these boards on a daily basis as we work on our reading, writing and math skills.”
