  • Rising Readers and Engineers

    This project was a huge success. This is a long over due thank you! The Toniebox has been a high demand activity for all of my students the last two years. Many of the students enjoy choosing a familiar character, and listening to the stories and songs. This has fostered literacy development in all of my students and increased their interests in stories and songs.

    The Osmo technology set has also been a huge success. The students are engaged, curious, and it is easy to learn. I have been able to use it as another way to assess many of my students cognitive and fine-motor skills. Especially those who have limited expressive language and vocabulary.

    Thank you for your support in funding this project. These supplies have now helped two classes of students. I'm excited to see what it will bring to my current class of students.”

  • Keep Calm and Cozy On!

    Our snuggle spot cozy cube has been a great tool in our classroom this year. When we assembled the cozy cube and introduced the area to the students, they were all so excited for the new addition to our classroom, and could not wait to have their turn in the snuggle spot. We introduced the snuggle spot with a feelings chart, social-emotional related books, stuffed animals, pillows, and many calming sensory items. We explained that the area is a safe place to go when you are feeling upset, need a break, or when you body is having difficulty calming down. Initially we had to use a timer to give everyone a turn as the rule in our class is one person at a time is allowed in the snuggle spot. The class caught on and understood the rules immediately.

    Our students have been able to use the snuggle spot cozy cube as a retreat when the busy classroom environment becomes challenging to navigate, or when someone wants space away from the group. Some of our students also enjoy using the cozy cube as their sleeping space during our rest time.

    It has provided a safe and comforting place for many of our students. They will bring a stuffed animal, book, or sensory item into the space and often times we set a timer. Many of our students have difficulty regulating their emotions and have been using the cozy cube as a tool to help in the process of calming their bodies in order to return to tasks and activities. We are so grateful for your donations to make this space available to our students. Thank you again!”

The cozy cube would offer a safe and quiet space for my students when they need a break from the busy classroom. In the cozy cube they will be able to explore a book independently, snuggle with a stuffed animal when they are missing their loved ones, or use a sensory tool to calm their mind and body in an appropriate way.
