Research shows when students feel they have some control over their environment, they are often more engaged and perform better academically. This project will give our Special Education students choice and control over their seating. This will help accommodate their individual learning needs, giving all students the opportunity to strive in their best environment. Flexible seating will allow our active students to choose a spot around the room that fits their learning style. When students feel comfortable they can focus and learn. We have students with a wide variety of attention, social, and emotional needs. By having a variety of seating options our students will have the ability to have control where they sit in the classroom and regain the focus that is lost when sitting in regular classroom chairs. We are certain that this project will give us the head start for a successful year in fourth grade!
