Bright Futures!

Funded Sep 29, 2022

I would like to start off by saying THANK YOU to our wonderful donors who made our classroom feel like a family! With your donations our students are learning in a more welcoming, comforting, and multisensory environment! Our library center has been much cozier with our cushioned seats (the students LOVE them). A large push this year within our school community was incorporating "learning centers" into our weekly routines. With the games donated, bins, cushions, etc. our class has been able to enjoy those center activities weekly. The students were at first very confused by the donations and in awe of the kind souls in the world who made it happen for our classroom. When we began unboxing the materials their faces lit up with excitement! We as a whole are extremely grateful and thankful to have been chosen to receive these materials. With these materials students are learning in a positive and hands-on space. Their love for learning grows each day. They are excited to enter the classroom, excited to participate in differentiated learning groups, and that is all the reason I signed up to be an educator. We hope to change the outlook of our students by creating the most engaging and student-centered environment. Our school is located in a very low-income neighborhood. Our students face struggles and challenges very different from our upbringing daily. These resources allow our students to build on their learning daily not just with their teacher but with each other as a class community. Our goal in class 1-102 is to prepare our students for the real world, make them active members on the community, and want to make change. So many of our first graders have voiced they want to be in student counsel when the reach the upper grades. They want their voices to be heard, for a six-year-old that is a huge accomplishment. The resources donated plus the time and effort put into our classroom management as well as learning has ensured a risk-free learning environment. An environment where mistakes are encouraged and a part of the learning. With our center games and weekly learning targets our students are not only learning from whole group instruction but small group and one-to-one instruction as well. We are blessed to have the wonderful support from our administrations and donors such as yourself. We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing our community and population of students to experience the joys of learning. Without your donations theses classroom materials would just not be possible. You have impacted our classroom, school, and our community as a whole. Preparing our students by allowing hands-on learning and multisensory activities to enrich our curriculum. We hope to one day give the same joy and contribution to another classroom community. You not only brought joy to my students but our grade as a whole. We have shared resources amongst the grade and each first grader on our floor has benefited from your donations. Thank you!!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Finnerty
