  • Attention Skaters! Skateboard Club Needs Your Help

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

These donations are a perfect way to impact the students that are in need directly. We use all the donations to purchase materials for the club. The students are busy making ramps and building little parks for them to play on. The best part of this whole process is that student knows that someone who is far-away from then cares enough to donate money to them. This is a special and powerful message that the students get. The love the club and it one of the most popular at school. It's so popular it hard to control the flow of eager students wanting to participate. All made possible by your generosity. Thank You So Much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Smith

  • Skateboard Club Needs Help

    Funded Feb 12, 2018

The kids love Skateboard Club! There are so many kids wanting to join that I have had to split the days up. We now have two clubs. The first club is Skateboard Club where the students use the Teck Decks on the ramps. It's a giant skate park for fingerboards in my classroom. There are many different half-pipes, as well as, wall rides, benches, and board sliding features. They love it. The second, and newest addition is Ramp Building Club. This is a smaller group of my more dedicated club members that want to build ramps and skate park features for the rest of the students. It so much fun they love it and it is all possible with your donations. Thank You So Much!”

    Mr. Smith

  • Attention All Skateboarders: Skateboard Club Needs Help!

    Funded Jan 24, 2018

You did it!!! Thank you so much for your generosity. Skateboard Club is up and running and the students love it. I think it means so much to this club to know that people care about the success of its students. We have started building ramps and having fun. During Skateboard Club, I can talk to my students about choices and decisions that can affect their entire lives. I teach at a middle school because students are still trying to discover themselves and find their way in life. They have not yet decided what they want out of life. A teacher and mentor can have maximum impact on a student in these important years. This is why I teach. Skateboard Club has changed attitude towards school and science. I would love to start other chapters at different schools. You are instrumental in kick-starting a club that will hopefully spread and impact many lives. Skateboard club is a club that follows school rules and shows respect for the school. We do not deface property. We do not skateboard with real skateboards on campus. We respect each other. We promote the positive aspects of skateboard culture, like inclusion, multiculturalism, friendship, belonging, and having fun. But the one thing that is most important is my student know that someone they have never met, that lives far from them cares about them. That is something that can not be valued. Skateboard Club thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • George Orwell's Animal Farm is Needed Now More Than Ever

    Funded Sep 22, 2017

Sorry that I've taken so long to get back to you. We have received our class set of Animal Farm and the students loved it. We did several lessons on major themes from the book including the Russian Revolution, propaganda, and literacy. Students were able to practice group speaking and reading as well as have a better understanding of new words and definitions. There are also many critical thinking exercises (predicting, inferring, points of view, analysis, debating, etc.) We worked on character development, as well as drawing parallels between the story and current events. It was so enjoyable and the students loved the story, however, the most important thing is that the students know that someone cares about them. It is a special feeling when someone who has never met you helps your class and your student's education. This is a time in our country when George Orwell's writing needs to be taught. I have already loaned the books to other teachers. The books will continue to provide my students with classic literary entertainment for years to come. From the bottom of Mr. Smith's heart... Thank You.”

  • Science Class Needs A Working Projector

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

You did it!!! Thank you so much for your generosity. Your donations have helped me bring the middle school science curriculum to my students in high definition. We have already watched volcanoes explode, landslides fall, cells divide, black holes feed on stars and all the other countless amazing things in our natural world. Science is a passion of mine and I want my student to have that same passion. Technology has come so far with special effect and science video production. When I was in school these videos were of poor quality and often left much to the imagination. However, now the production is high quality and have the impact of movies. This is why we need a high definition projector to excite young minds. Sometimes science is the only class some students enjoy. We hooked the projector up to a microscope and watch microscopic organisms up close. I use a system called "Visual Learning Systems" that use videos to break down complicated concepts with visual information. I use it almost daily. There are also interactive websites and Java applets that allow manipulation of data to effect real time changes in things like motion, animal populations, electrical current, erosion and chemical reactions. The other things we do is watch "Bill Nye" episode and something called "Science of Stupid" with show people doing stupid things on the Internet and then scientifically showing why these stunts failed and why you should not try them. But the one thing that is most important is my student know that someone they have never met, that lives far from them cares about them. That is something that can not be valued.”

  • Technology That Changes Lives

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

    Dear Wonderful Donors,

These Kindle Fires have greatly improved my classroom and students education. I have used them as a reward system, Internet research tool and for many fun education apps. The students love them. However, the one thing that means thee most is that there are strangers that care about us. That not-so-little fact means so much to us. We will use these tablets most days to explore the world through science. I wish you could see the impact for yourselves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Smith

  • Technology To Change Lives

    Funded Mar 3, 2015

Words can not describe the deep gratitude that my self and my students feel towards your generous gift. Yes your donation will help the students increase learning and bolster their achievements. However, there is a deeper lesson than the one I will teach with the tablet computer. The lesson is that someone cares enough to donate to our classroom.

This is a powerful lesson that people care about each other, as a middle school teacher this is a hard lesson to teach. We will use your gift for many things. We will do research for projects, 3-D Modeling, Interactive simulations, databases and spreadsheets, networking with other students. I will use the tablet as a reward for hard work. When students work hard their reward will be to play game on the device. We all thank you once again for your wonderful donation.”

  • Technology to Change Lives

    Funded Dec 31, 2013

Thank You for donating the money for the Kindle Fires. The precious gift you shared allow me use them in many different ways. The biggest change is in homework and classwork that is now all being completed on time. I have found as a reward for hard work, these Kindles are perfect. for the job. When student fail to complete school work on-time they lose their Kindle privileges. We also use them for math practice, moreover we can now search the web and solve problem. I can't thank you enough and the students are overwhelmed and very appreciation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Smith

All my students are eligible for special education services. The classroom has students with autism, specific learning disabilities, vision and hearing impairments. They attend a Title I school in California. My students come from a lower socioeconomic class but they have dreams of attending college. Many of them are English language learners and are several grade levels behind in reading and writing. Most of my students don't have Internet access at home or a working computer. They come every day eager to learn and grow. Budget cuts have hit our school hard and the students have suffered the most. We have only one computer in the classroom and it is difficult to teach lessons in the computer age without any computers.
