My students are a diverse group of seventh and eighth graders from all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I teach at an inner-city charter school with a large amount of English language learners and with a high poverty rate. They have not always had contact with the amazing world that is available to them just by turning pages and haven't always had access to art supplies and an opportunity to spend an hour a day creating art. They are excited about every assignment; learning about different artists, respectful of materials and supplies and ready to create and experience the magic of Art Class with new and exciting supplies and materials.
