Airplay Compatible Laptop for the Classroom (Again!)
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so much for your help and assistance in gaining a new laptop for our classroom. This year, we explored more ways to use Airplay/screen mirroring to enhance our math lessons, and it was especially useful when prepping for our annual Regents exam!
Having a reliable device for daily classroom use is something I consider to be incredibly impactful. Getting daily tasks done has been much more efficient and I am able to get more done in less time due to having this device. Thank you again for your support.”

Funded May 3, 2021I can't begin to express how thankful I am for this laptop! Because of remote learning, I did not have a chance to utilize the Macbook until this school year. It has been AMAZING so far. I can use airplay to display lessons directly to my Promethean board in the classroom, while also being able to use "mark up" tools so I can avoid touching the Promethean board that many others have been touching. Being able to work directly off of my laptop is much more covid-friendly.
I am typically doing a lot of work one-on-one with my self-contained students, and it has been so great to be able to walk around the room and teach from the laptop wirelessly, while also keeping an eye on all of my student's notebooks.
This is by far the most useful classroom tool I have used thus far. Thank you again. Without your donations, none of this would be possible.”

Funded Sep 17, 2020Thank you so much for everything you have contributed to help me this school year. It is now almost time to go on our holiday break, and I can say I have used SO many of these supplies already. The amount of paper and ink I have used is unbelievable, and I successfully applied the $100 teacherspayteachers.com gift card to purchase an entire 7th grade curriculum that is compatible with Google Classroom. Being able to have materials to share with the whole math department was so helpful, especially when we were rushing to get the year started on the right foot.
It has been a struggle this year. We have dealt with many class and student changes due to those opting to go full remote remote or choosing to come back to in-person learning. Having these supplies and resources has made it easier for me and my students to adjust to all of those changes. Thank you!”

Mrs. S.

Funded May 22, 2019I can't begin to express how thankful I am for this iPad! It has taken me awhile to write to you, but that was because I was waiting for the new school year to use the iPad with my new students. It has been AMAZING so far. I have been able to pull up lessons on by SmartBoard from my iPad. I can write, edit, highlight, annotate, etc. all on my iPad from any where in the classroom and it will show up on the Smart Board! I am typically doing a lot of work one-on-one with my self-contained students, and it has been so great to be able to walk around the room and teach while also keeping an eye on all of my student's notebooks.
This is by far the most useful classroom tool I have used thus far. I am actually looking forward to my observations this year so my administrators can see how great of a tool this really is!!!
Thank you again. Without your donations, none of this would be possible.”

Funded Mar 31, 2019Thank you for your kind donations and consideration for my classroom and wonderful students. The pencils were hugely important because I received them just in time for state testing. The new desk organizer has been very useful for organizing my IEP paperwork as well as my daily handouts for my classes. The copy paper has also been getting used, as I print all of my guided notes in my own classroom for my classes. I am printing an average of 50 sheets per day as a result, and was running low on paper until this project was funded!
Again, thank you so much for your kind donations. So many items in my classroom would never have been there if it weren't for the individuals who helped donate.”

A Classroom Laptop for the Algebra Curriculum!
Funded Feb 28, 2019Thank you for all of the help and support toward me and my students! We received the laptop a few weeks ago, and it has been incredibly useful for me and my students.
My students use tablets in the classroom, but certain features of their algebra app are only accessible through a standard laptop computer. For example, when I need to run data reports of their progress, I cannot access them through the tablet, but only through a computer. This has been incredibly useful to have in the moment, rather than needing to wait until I could get to the computer lab or teacher's lounge to hop on a computer.
I am relieved to know that we have a backup device for the students in order for them to access instructional videos, mini-assessments, and other tools through "Algebra Nation."
Thank you again so much for believing in educators and supporting all that we do in the classroom!”

Funded Jan 12, 2019I couldn't thank you enough for taking the time to read my story, and contribute to my wonderful class. Having a printer that is readily available in the classroom is an absolute life-saver, and I would not have been able to make this happen without your help.
Teaching the algebra curriculum to my students with disabilities requires a lot of scaffolds, guided notes, and graphic organizers to supplement my lessons on the board. Without all of these, my students find it very difficult to remain present in the lesson, take all of the notes, and work through examples all in one 40 minute period. While I have managed to plan ahead and request copies of all of my scaffolds be made in the copy room in my building, it does not always go as planned. There have been times where my students seem lost, and the materials that I have provided are not enough. In those moments, I would often think to myself that it would be so helpful to be able to print a different note page, or a foldable guideline, or even something as simple as an extra multiplication table to glance at.
Not only has this printer proved to alleviate those "in the moment" printing issues, but the fact that it prints in color has been even more of an added bonus for my class. I did not realize this at the time I requested the printer, but having simple areas of my note sheets color coded and highlighted has benefited my students greatly. Again, I am truly thankful that you would help me and my class, and I thank you for allowing me the flexibility of printing materials for my students, in the moment, from my own classroom!”

Algebra for All: Meeting the Needs of Students with Disabilities
Funded Sep 3, 2018Wow, I cannot believe how many of you pitched in to help my classroom thrive! I never could have funded a project this large on my own and this would not have been able to be a reality if it weren't for all of you. I am following a new algebra curriculum with my 8th grade students titled "Algebra Nation." As part of this curriculum, students are supposed to have access to the Algebra Nation app to view their instructional videos, complete weekly assessments that are completely unique to their individual skillset, and have conversations about the material taught in a virtual chat room with other students from other schools.
In the beginning of the school year, students take a pre-assessment through the app. The results of the pre-assessment allow "Algebra Nation" to generate a set of skills and goals that are met and unmet for that student. These skills are all pre-algebra topics that should be met in order to be successful in the algebra curriculum. In order to move "up the ladder", students need to watch an instructional video on the specific unmet goal and complete an online quiz to display their understanding. They will continue this until they have "graduated" into the algebra curriculum!
Once per week, students have a scheduled "academic skills" period, which is time dedicated to working toward any unmet mathematical goals (or re-learn topics of confusion that were taught that week if they have already met all of the pre-algebra goals). The students are using these tablets as part of their skills class period, where they will be logging on and working on what is necessary for them. As a special education teacher, I know how important it is to provide multiple access points for learning. I know that this curriculum, and these tablets, are going make a HUGE difference in their education.”

Funded Sep 7, 2018Thank you for all of the help and support toward me and my students! We received the tablets yesterday, and I'm looking forward to receiving the cases and charging stations soon!
My students are so excited to use their Algebra Nation app on the tablets! I am relieved to know they will be protected with new cases, so that they can last a long time. We will be using all of the materials on a weekly basis in our math skills class, where the students will be accessing instructional videos and mini-assessments to sharpen their algebra skills.
Thank you again so much for believing in educators and supporting all that we do in the classroom!”

NYC Classroom: Just the Basics!
Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for the help and support you provided my classroom! My students LOVE to use white boards, and the new double-sided boards are something they really enjoy using. It is fantastic to be able to graph on one side, and be able to flip it over to show the necessary algebraic work along with it.
The markers, crayons, and scissors are also incredibly useful, as our old sets were getting worn down and supplies have gone missing over the years. We are constantly doing hands-on activities and "bulletin board worthy" projects, so the art supplies are definitely getting put to good use. Finally, the computer paper is incredibly useful, as I print tons of guided notes and scaffolded worksheets for my students.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. It is so helpful to be able to limit the number of supplies my students needed to bring into my classroom for this school year.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. S.
