A Mouse for a Middle Schooler
Funded Apr 1, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our middle school in Virginia. Any and all help we are given is greatly appreciated. We are an urban school district where everyone receives a free breakfast and lunch, and we have a non-existent PTA.
Having access to a classroom supply where every student can work with a mouse and their Chromebook when editing video is fantastic and so helpful! The students are learning how to make and edit video while working on our school news show.
Thanks again for your help; we appreciate you!”

Mrs. K.
Picture This!
Funded May 23, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! I can't wait to make our storybook characters come alive in our elementary school library for our elementary children.
Having all of our favorite storybook characters on our walls will help promote reading for our scholars.
I have pictures that will be displayed in each of the frames and will be displayed around the elementary library media center. The scholars all have their favorite characters and love to read about them, too, and share the stories with their peers in their classes. So excited for the added literacy in our library!
Thanks again!”

Virtual Saturday School
Funded Mar 11, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations to our elementary school in Virginia! We have been virtual since March 2020 and our scholars have fallen a little behind. Our district was given a grant to host Saturday School for those scholars that need a little bit more help and attention.
Our scholars have worked so hard and we thought we'd begin to offer prizes to those who were attending regularly each Saturday. They are going to be thrilled with the Lego prizes! They love Legos!
Thanks so much for your donations; we appreciate you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Funder and one other donor.Balloons, Balloons, and More Balloons!
Funded Feb 28, 2021Wow, thank you so much for your generous donations to our elementary school in Virginia! We were recently gifted through Donors Choose our own full size helium tank, so we would be able to fill balloons in anticipation of our scholars' return on March 15th.
I selected all types/sizes/colors of balloons hoping to create a fun, colorful atmosphere in our building. We have been virtual since March 2020 and are so excited to welcome our scholars back in less than two weeks.
We plan to fill the entrance with balloons, make balloon arches, etc. to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our scholars.
Thank you so much!”

Balloons Extravaganza!
Funded Feb 16, 2021Thank you so much for the donations to purchase/rent our very own helium tank and balloon filler attachment! It has arrived and we are so excited to fill balloons in anticipation of the scholars return to the building on March 15th.
In the past, we bought the little tanks at a local party store and we always ran out of helium before our project was done. So excited to now have a full tank and be able to fill our building with balloons for March 15th!
Our school district has been virtual since March 2020, so it's been almost a year since we've seen our scholars in person!
Thank you so much!”

Five Chromebooks for First Graders
Funded Feb 6, 2021I just returned home from delivering the Chromebooks to our scholars and I couldn't be happier to be able to deliver them today. The scholars that I visited with were THRILLED, EXCITED, and so HAPPY to get their very own Chromebook!
Before I left, we worked on our silly Valentine project in Google Classroom. The scholars that still have iPads struggled. Knowing that some of those kids would be rewarded with a Chromebook today, made it not as frustrating.
Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

Home Libraries
Funded Dec 12, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations! Our elementary school/school division has been virtual since March 2020. It's crazy that we are coming up on a year without teaching classes face-to-face!
Along with virtual teaching, this means no physical library access for our scholars either. They love and miss the library so much! Yes, we have a small collection of e-books that they have access to, but they love visiting the library and checking out books.
So, having this collection of books is amazing to be able to give our scholars to add to their home libraries. Our kids are readers and this gift/donation to us is amazing. Thank you!”

Mini Microphones for Scholars
Funded Jan 6, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! My colleagues, my scholars, and our parents are truly grateful for your kindness and generosity! It has been a struggle since March 2020 teaching online full-time, but Donors Choose has been a life saver!
My co-teacher and I distributed Chromebooks to our first grade class and included one of these mini microphones with each one. For some reason, the sound isn't great, and having the microphones is a life saver! It's great to hear our scholar's voices!
Thank you so much from myself, our lucky first graders, and their parents!”

Funded Dec 12, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations! Our elementary school/school division has been virtual since March 2020. It's crazy that we are coming up on a year without teaching classes face-to-face!
I am constantly coming up with ways to engage our elementary scholars! I have librarian and teacher friends that I follow on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest and we all collaborate on ideas in this new tech age of homeschooling.
Having the iPad is amazing to use with our scholars. They enjoy the updated graphics (vs my old school computer!). Thank you so much; this means a lot to me and my scholars.”

Document Camera for Virtual Teaching
Funded Jan 4, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! My library assistant and I have been co-teaching with a first grade teacher for the last month or so. When I realized how much easier it would be to have document cameras, I immediately posted this project! We have to use anchor charts and the document camera makes it so much easier to use vs. having to hold up a pad of paper!
My colleagues, my scholars, and our parents are truly grateful for your kindness and generosity! It has been a struggle since March 2020 teaching online full-time, but Donors Choose has been a life saver!
Thank you so much from myself, my library assistant, our lucky first graders, and their parents!”
